“An excellent location for a first-time visitor.”

The hotel is located in the centre of Frieburg close to the Cathedral. It is built over a large car park and a small shopping arcade. The restaurant (breakfast only in my case) is pleasant and the food quality slightly better than average. The rooms are reasonably well equipped and quite comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. One small drawback if planning a stay of several days is that it does not have a lot of character, it is fairly bland.

“Impressed”

The only fault was that the Car Parking arrangements were not very good and very expensive 15 EUR for 1 overnight. otherwise we could not fault this hotel.

“Two nights in Freiburg”

This was a two day stop on a ten day journey. The hotel is a typical business hotel - clean, courteous, large rooms, nice bathroom. It's right at the edge of old town a couple blocks from the Munster. All of the sites are in easy walking distance.

Area recommendations

Skip the 15 Euro breakfast. There are a bunch of cafes in walking distance and we both ate for 9 Euro total.

“Surpassed my expectations; great value”

We spent two nights here. We weren't sure what to expect given that this hotel is a 3 star "value" destination. We were pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious and well-furnished. It had a large bathroom and a nice view of the city. The underground parking garage was convenient as parking in Freiburg is otherwise challenging. The location is great and the old city center with the Muenster (cathedral) and lots of great restaurants is only a few block away. We would definitely stay here again.

Area recommendations

Hike up to the top of Schlossberg (Castle Mountain). The hiking trails at the bottom of the mountain are only about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the hotel through the old city. At the top of Schlossberg is a viewing tower that offers a commanding view of the entire City of Freiburg and the surrounding Black Forest countryside for miles in every direction. It's a great place to see the sunset over the city. The hike is somewhat steep and strenuous, but the hiking trails are paved and well-marked. The view is worth every step.

“Very pleasanrt stay”

Very good value for money.. We stayed there just for one night but we enjoyed it a lot. The receptionists were all very kind and willing to help. There is also a parking on the lowest floor that we had to pay for though! The rooms were quite small but very clean. So was the bathroom! Overall, it was a nice experience!

“Good but Grumpy and Limited Soap”

Overall it was a good hotel with a good location. However, the front desk staff were rude and grumpy. With a small amount of customer service training they should be willing to be respectful enough to participate in more cordial interactions. Also, we had one little piece of soap for two days. Again, I think it was just a simple mistake. Implementing a few simple quality assurance methods should take care of the two issues. We probably would stay there again.

We will return to this great college town. Great schnitzel at Tacheles. Very much enjoyed the walk up Scholssberg (Castel Hill) to see the 17th-century French fort. Overall, very good experience.

das Hotel befindet sich mitten in Freiburg, keine 3 Minuten zu Fuß bis zum Münster und der sehr schönen Füßgängerzone mit vielen Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Die Tiefgarage des Hotels hat viele Parkplätze.

“Das Mercure Hotel zentral gelegen in der Nähe der Freiburger Altstadt”

Das Zimmer war sauber und der Kategorie entsprechend ausgestattet. Das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück für 15,00 € bot eine reichhaltige Auswahl. DasHotel liegt sehr nahe am Altstadtkern und man kann zu Fuß die Einkaufsstrasse von Freiburg in wenigen Minuten erreichen. Ideal für einen Kurz-Trip.

“Mercure Hotel Freiburg am Münster, very close to center and very correct!”

We've spent one night in this hotel with my girlfriend. Very close to the historical center of Freiburg (5 min walking). Room clean and quiet. We were on the back of the hotel (room 420, 4th floor). Parking below the hotel, pretty expensive (8€ for a stay between 18:00 and 9:00, then around 1.5€ per hour). One double bed and one sofa in the room. Bathroom new. Personnel very friendly. Only drawback: the breakfast costs 15€ per person. This is really expensive. We chose to take a breakfast in the city center, much cheaper and very confortable. I recommend this hotel.
