“What a treat!!!”

This Hotel was located in the beautiful, breath taking black forest area of Germany. It was wonderful!! The daily allowance into the spa area was great. The grounds were beautiful, an early morning run or walk is the most peaceful experience. There are just miles and miles of beautiful trails through the forest. You can also rent bikes. Oh, and do not miss the breakfast there. Also the other meals that we had there were outstanding. We would stay here again just for the food. The service was great!!! I had a great massage on the lower floor of the hotel.

Pack your work out clothes and swim suit for a great walk and swim.

“Good for one night stay”

We stayed at the hotel for one night on our way from UK to Tuscany and again on the return journey. Convenient for A5. One night we had a newly re-furbed standaard double room which was comfortable but the glass door to the bathroom meant lack of privacy! Rooms lacked a/c though we did have an electric fan on our second stay which was welcome as it was quite hot that day. Dinner was okay but we weren't offered the 'snack' menu - we discovered later that there was a more simple choice rather than the, quite expensive, a la carte 'organic' options. Breakfast (15 euro each) was good, service efficient. The reception desk had only one person so checking in was delayed while another guest had a long discussion regarding items on their bill and our departure was interrupted while the receptionist broke off to answer the 'phone.

Area recommendations

We stayed on the hotel site as it was a stopover on our long journey to and from Tuscany

Ask for the 'snack' menu as well as the main a la carte. Also try to book an incluive package with dinner and breakfast.

“Not your typical spa”

We arrived very early as this was our first hotel after crossing the Atlantic overnight. The front desk staff made every effort to find us a room that had been cleaned and ready for guests, despite it still being before noon. Our Expedia reservation was right there, no hassle. This hotel is listed as a spa, which it is, but with German/European connotations. It is used by many locals as a rehab center, so the lobby was filled with people using wheelchairs, crutches, and walkers as they rehab from strokes, accidents, and other disabling health issues. It is not a spa in the sense of the word describing a pampering location for a vacation, even though they had massages, whirlpools, etc . The location was rural, next to a park, so very quiet and pleasant. (Many cuckoo birds in adjacent forest). We are satisfied with the hotel however most likely we would choose something less clinical if he had known the nature of the spa in advance.

Area recommendations

Pick something on public transportation lines in Freiburg and leave your car at the hotel. Or don't bring a car at all.

Getting around

The public transportation system in Freiburg is wonderful (The Strassenbahn) so use it and leave the car parked.

Alles was prima verzorgd. Wij sliepen alleen op de bovenste verdieping en die was bloedheet! Geen airco. Jammer, van zo'n hotel had ik dit wel verwacht.

“Schöne Zimmer - Leider äußerst beliebiger Service”

Unser Zimmer war neu renoviert mit schönem Bad, es war nur leider alles etwas klein. Im Hotel fühlten wir uns jedoch in keiner Weise willkommen. Das zeigte sich z.B. darin, dass die Rezeptionsmitarbeiter beim Betreten des Hotels weder Begrüßen, noch uns überhaupt wahrgenommen haben. Kleinlich vielleicht, zeigt es aber doch die "Seele" des Hotelbetriebs. An sich ist das Hotel schön im Grünen gelegen, man sollte sich aber bewußt sein, dass das Hotel in einen Umfeld von Reha-Kliniken liegt und man deshalb auch das Gefühl hat, selbst in der Kur gelandet zu sein. Schade auch, dass der Zugang zum Mineralbad/ Wellness nicht (wie angekündigt) kostenfrei war, sondern angeblich laut neuer Verträge zusätzlich zu Buche schlagen sollte.

“4 Sterne Hotel oder ReHa-Hotel”

Dieses Hotel ist mehr ein ReHa-Hotel denn ein dem Standard entsprechendes 4****-Hotel. Gelegen neben einer Klinik, wird dem Gast ein Aufenthalt in einem Krankenzimmer ähnlichen Raum, ausgestattet mit Krankenhausbetten (!), zugemutet. Das Personal ist zwar freundlich, kann aber nur wenig darüber hinweg trösten, dass gegen 21:00 Uhr das Restaurant erst wieder hoch gefahren werden muss oder dass zur Käseplatte so schlichte Dinge wie Weißbrot nicht verfügbar sind. Will ich Urlaub im Krankenhaus machen? Ich jedenfalls nicht mehr! Fair: Hotelleitung verzichtete aus eigenem Antrieb auf die Bezahlung des Frühstücks.

“Dorint Resort Freiburg”

If you don't mind to be 8kms outside downtown this is the place. The resort is situated in the middle of the actual Black forest. The air is clean and you can hear the birds singing.

“Schöne Lage, Hotel mit kleinen Fehlern”

Zimmer war in Ordnung, das Personal war freundlich, -Zimmer war zu 15.00 Uhr nicht fertig, wir mußten in der Lobby warten - es wurde keine Erfrischung angeboten, , die Lobby stank stundenlang nach Schweiß, abends war es schwer, ohne Reservierung einen Platz im Restaurant zu bekommen, das angeschlossene Bad war z.T. wegen Bauarbeiten geschlossen,
