“Reasonable Hotel for Price”

Clean, quiet room. Good breakfast. Room was reasonable size, bathroom was clean and in good repair. Hotel is several miles from town centre but is attached to a pub with fairly extensive food menu. Convenient for M1. I think the hotel was good value for what I paid (was cheaper than others in the area) and I would certainly consider staying there again. I would recommend it to others with the following comments..... As others have commented in the past there is no A/C and room got surprisingly warm (yes, even in Barnsley!). There is a window, but traffic & nearby balcony made me reluctant to open it too often. The only bedding was a heavy duvet which was too hot for August (no separate sheet). The "digital TV" was a CRT-style set that was smaller than claimed on the hotel web site. Mine only got 5 channels. I think there were supposed to be more, but no one seemed too keen on fixing it & I didn't use it much anyway. There are no exercise facilities and the hotel does not have any arrangements with any local gyms. I did find one I could use for 10 pounds/day.

“Family Hotel”

Bluebell is more suited to families and weddings at weekends. It would be better to segregate the family area and bar due to kids running around at the bar. Rooms are comfortable but can be noisy from wedding parties. Beautiful surroundings, next to golf course and good access to Barnsley town center. Overall good.
