Hellaby hall

Posted 02-Dec-2014
Right for start we should have been able to book in a 2pm according to our bookings so we arrived there at 3pm assuming our room would be ready how wrong we where, after a 20min wait (even though the receptionist said it would be 5mins) I went to ask if our room was ready yet she then had to ring house keeping to which they said "o yes it's ready now" so god knows how long we would have been waiting if I haddent have asked, we then got our room key which was supposed to be an excutive king room, we opened to door and yet another surprise there stood two single beds (not quite and excutive king room really is it), so back down I go and say "this isn't the room I payed for ", "really" the receptionist replied, so after another 5min fumble to find us another room we got another room key so off we trot hoping this one was correct, oh and wait we open the door eyes closed and fingers crossed that this is the right room, Ooops again no it wasn't, it was two double beds this time not an executive king room (king sized bed), but by this point I had already lost the will to live so we decided not to bother any more as this farce around had already started to mess around with our evening plans. The less said about the room service the better I wouldn't want to bring tears to anybody's eyes. So all in all HELLaby hall is quite an apt name for the place!

4 star rated Not 4 star service!

Posted 24-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
I booked a kingsize double and was provided with 2 single beds! I went to the restaurant which was next to empty at 19:15 and was asked to come back at 21:15 as they were expecting to get busy and 'didn't want to upset the chef'! I went to the bar and tried to order a draft beer from the pumps to be told the beer was not working but that I could get one from the bar in the function room. There was a private wedding in the function room! Breakfast on Sunday morning was average! Generally poor service and more staff training required about what 4 star service is supposed to be.

Overall very nice Hotel with great gym and swimming pool attached, however the en suite had a smell of stale urine so need to clean them deeper I think, disinfectant would work!! although they were visibly clean, just a small thing but it would help...

All let down by...

Posted 15-Apr-2014
All was fine except that breakfast didn't arrive in the room as requested for 7:30 am. This meant that we were late for the meeting I had at 8:00 am at the conference facility next door, and had to leave without breakfast. So, if you are using this as a stay-over for the meeting centre please ensure that you get the staff to double check your early room service breakfast!

Convenient location

Pros: The adjacent leisure facilities are very good and free to those staying at the hotel. Check-in was very straigtforward and quick.
Cons: The decor in parts of the older building is very tired-looking.
A room-only overnight stay. Room comfortable, spacious and clean. Although there was a wedding on the same night, it was not noisy in the part of the hotel where we were. We did not eat at the hotel due to early departure in the morning.

Okay, but only for one night.

Posted 08-May-2013
Cons: Comfort of the bed
Location: Ideal for access to the M1/M18 motorway
Hotel is generally okay and looks as if it has recently been redecorated. Unfortunately, we got assigned a multi-use room (that could be used both as a standard room, or as a meeting room). This meant that the room was very big, but the fold-away bed was not very comfortable. Luckily we were only staying the one night. Additionally, the breakfast was nothing special and definitely not worth the price they where charging. Can't comment on the leisure facilities as we didn't use them.

Pleasant stay

Posted 04-Dec-2012
Pros: The spa facilities, and pool
Cons: The noise at night and roudy people
Location: It was perfect for what we needed
The hotel is easy to find and beautiful. The only issue I had is that I have two children on my own and a buggy which made it a rather long journey from the car park to the actual lobby. Again, getting from our room to the spa etc was a treck but overall we enjoyed our stay very much. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the room service very prompt and staff again friendly. The bill was actually lower than I was expecting which is a bonus!
