“Great Hotel, Great welcome, Great staff”

The Copthorn Hotel was easy to get to and very welcoming upon arrival. Every staff member had a smile on their face and were happy to help. The room was spacious with good facilities, ironing board, fridge, tea/coffee Clever idea in the bathroom for the mirror to demist after a shower. Breakfast was super and we had the rib eye steak in the evening which was awesome Only down point was that the main bedroom was a little dim lighting wise otherwise great place.

“Great location to see a great city.”

Came to see my team get beaten by Sheffield Utd, 3-0. In spite of this result I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend, the hotel adjacent to the football ground and just a 10 minute stroll up to The Moor and the lively city centre. I've stayed in many Copthornes before, this was didn't fail to deliver.

“Modern, clean and welcoming”

Second stay at this hotel. Located right next to Sheff United but a little away from centre of city (about 20 mins walk). New hotel with comfortable, well appointed rooms and bathrooms. Friendly and welcoming staff. Nice restaurant area and good value buffet breakfast.

Area recommendations

Went to spend a night with our son who is at University in Sheffield. Great city with some excellent attractions and a vibrant nightlife. Trip to Meadowhall, easily reached by tram , is esential.

“Very impressed.”

I was very impressed with the Hotel and the service given. Was about a 15 minute walk into town but I know about that. Room was lovely and spacious and the front desk helpful with every request. Breakfast was lovely and parking was convenient too.

Dining

I recommend the Hong Kong Wok for a great meal nearby the Copthorne Hotel. Reasonably cheap and massive portions but very very busy. Well worth booking in advance.

“Great value”

Given the reasonable price of the room and the fact it was next to a football stadium, I wasn't sure what to expect. However, from the arrival in the free car park, to the newly refurbished rooms and the friendly staff, our expectations were exceeded for our whole stay.

“Not the hotel for us.”

This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel but it did not live up to expectations. We asked for one twin room and one double. We got two doubles. We asked to change but that was not possible. We asked to talk to the manager (it was late) so we settled to talk to him the next day. The Manager never came to talk to us. This is one of the few four star hotels that do not have WiFi in the room, only in the lobby area. The location is next to the football stadium and twenty minutes walk from the city centre. So its great if you are attending a football match otherwise the area itself is not in the nicest part of town. We ordered room service and both myself and my wife had the most tasteless Ceasar's salad that we have ever had. The only redeeming part of the hotel was that all the staff were very polite and helpful, and the rooms were large. Breakfast was good too.

“Would definitely go back.”

Good sized room and bathroom. Very approachable and friendly receptionist and bar staff. Good location on the Bramall Lane with free parking.
