I stayed 3 nights (thurs till sunday) and left with a great impression of the hotel and its beauty and even better impression of the service.
Rooms/grounds- to my surprise upon checking in we were shown to a 3 bedroom unit overlooking the water despite booking just a basic room and paying what i thought was very regular/standard prices for a hotel like the Gansevoort. My girlfriend and I were both amazed as the unit was incredibly spacious and the views of the beach were breathtaking. The room had walk-in closests/over-heard shower/outdoor deck to enjoy the water view. I can't say enough about how pleasantly surprised we were with the rooms!
Omar and Miguel were both exceptional in their attention to detail and interest that they took in us enjoying our trip. Omar arranged a car rental and trip to the waterfalls. He gave us his cell phone number incase we got lost and said he is around whenever to help. Also, we forgot to bring sunscreen so Omar left the facility to seek a brand of our choice. Miguel was very helpful in recommending nightlife and checked in with us frequently at the pool to make sure we had drinks/food whenever needed. It was just the right balance from both of them of attention to detail but allowing us space/privacy when we were relaxing. Also, Emanuel at Baia louge was excellent in looking after us as well.
By far the best and healthiest food we tasted of the trip was at the hotel. Starting with breakfast (which was complimentary
"A beautiful hotel in the DR. April 28-May 5, 2015"
A wonderful hotel, very peaceful. Breakfast every morning overlooking the ocean. Family friendly hotel. The rooms are very nice, to include the beds. The entire hotel staff was very accommodating. The pool very nice. A three minute walk to Sosua Beach. Three minute walk to several restaurants, bars, and small markets. A five star rating. I highly recommend this hotel.

I had a very good time at the hotel, the staff was great and the hospitality was I would definitely recommend to others to stay here in the future. Only one thing I thought the bed would be a lot more comfortable.
THIS WAS MY 3RD STAY HERE OF MY 9 TRIPS TO DR. THIS IS MY FAVORITE PLACE TO STAY. IT IS SAFE, SECURE AND CLOSE TO ALL ACTIVITIES AND BEACHES YOU CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE. THE STAFF IS THE BEST. THEY ARE FRIENDLY, HELPFULL,PROFESSIONAL AND ALL IN ALL GREAT. I LOOK FORWARD TO MY NEXT STAY WHEN IN THAT PART OF THIS REALLY BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY
I stayed at the Mary Rose for a week. I was traveling alone, however the comradery amongst the guests was great. Many of the people staying there we either traveling alone or in groups of two or three. People usually gathered around the pool bar (open between 6 - 10) for drinks and conversation. You absolutely want to partake of steak night. All in all it was a great place to stay.
Being my first time to the Dominican I was a little nervous about what to do or how I was going to get around safely and in comfort. But when I checked in I was actually greeted by the Owners and staff. Which helped ease my mind. All my questions were answered and was also given advice of places I should go and visit. Every morning over breakfasts they would help me with my plans for the day. It is also fun to people watch in the Bar and seating area. Only guests and friends are allowed in this area. So you are not bothered by the locals
Sosua is a small town on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic, about 10 minutes from the international airport. The town has a tourist area and a residential area that are separated by the main public beach. During World War II, Sosua welcomed a number of Jewish refugees from Germany and Austria. Today, the town has a small synagogue and is popular with European tourists and expatriates.
