    “great views great staff”

The owner of the hotel "Antonio" could not have done more for us. he was friendly helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were clean and tidy . The view of Vesuvius was stunning. The one problem was its location up a steep hill . The bus journey took 20minutes. The buses were however regular. each journey cost 2.40Euros.

    “Stunning Views”

Located in the hills overlooking Sorrento with the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius in the background, this hotel offers stunning views from many rooms. The entrance and breakfast room are located on the top floor where plenty of parking is available. Driving into Sorrento can be a challenge, but there is a bus stop directly in front of the hotel. The owner will recommend a nearby restaurant the offers a fixed price menu, including pickup and return to the hotel that is good value and great food. He also recommended is a Capri tour of exceptional value. I would highly recommend this property.

    “Great Views”

Very nice hotel with amazing views. The only problem is that its far from town and the public transportation is not too good. A cab ride to town was 40 euros.

    “Beautiful Views, Great Price!”

My husband and I just spent four fantastic nights at Le Terrazze and it was one of the nicest hotels we stayed at in all of Italy. I have traveled to Europe several times and can say that the water pressure and heat levels were above par for Europe. The size of the shower and bathroom were also very nice. I'm going to give a pretty accurate hotel review because I feel like it was the reviews that actually gave me the fantastic opportunity to get a peek at what I would be staying at. I would say that when staying in Italy it's first best to realize that you are NOT in America. Meaning: the food/size/comfort will be different. However, if you allow yourself this unique opportunity to stay in authentically Italian places such as Le Terrazze, you will get the chance to surround yourself with all the wonderful amenities that Sorrento has to offer. First off, the view is indescribable and the only way to get this view is to go to the top of the mountain. It is super convenient however, all you do is buy a bus ticket at the main station when you arrive and the hotel actually sells the bus tickets as well. Compared to some of the hurdles we climbed in other places, this was an ideal situation. The only down fall to taking the ten minutes bus ride to the top was the timing of the bus. It isn't too bad in the sense that it runs pretty often in the morning and evening, but less often in the late night and early morning. So just make sure to grab the bus schedule at the hote

    Dining
The hotel actually has a private driver pick you up and take you to a local restaurant. The menu is somewhat set with a few options for each course but it's only 18E per person. This includes appetizer, pasta, main course and vegetable, and dessert! It's fantastic! We did it for at least one night because we got in late, and was the perfect solution in such a hill town area...who wants to walk down that street!

“Good value with self catering & fantastic views”

Le Terraze has good sized, comfortable rooms with a balcony equipped with a table and sun umbrella. You can cook a reasonable meal on the two hotplates in the kitchenette and dine outside with amazing views over the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius. The fridge keeps the beer and wine well chilled! The hotel is built into a hillside so the rooms are arranged in terraces, with access to each from the outside. This means it's quiet as you don't get the usual hotel corridor noise, but you do step straight into the rain on wet days. The breakfast room is at the top and is large with panoramic views and you can eat outside. Breakfast has all the usual continental choices. There is no restaurant, but the helpful staff will arrange a free shuttle to one of two local reasonably priced restaurants and you also get a lift back. The pool is very pleasnt to sit round but it's not heated and we found it too cold for swimming. You need a car to stay here as it's a 25 min drive from Sorrento up a steep, tortuous road. There is a bus stop outside, but it's not always reliable and if the bus is full, it doesn't stop. There is limited parking space in the road, but we didn't have a problem. You can book several excursions from the hotel where you are picked up by mini bus and dropped off again in the evening. We went on the one to Capri and found it value for money. The TV has only one English speaking channel - CNN. We spent 10 nights here and it was a good base for exploring the area.

Sorrento old town is worth a browse, but the traffic is horrendous and the driving manic. The same applies to the drive around the Amalfi Coast, but you have to do it. Positano is built in terraces all down the cliff and worth a visit if you can cope with the narrow roads and traffic. Beaches with access are few and far between and all very busy. They are mostly private so be prepared to pay a lot for sunbeds and umbrellas. There is a lovely local sandy beach at Puolo. You park in the olive groves and it's a short walk down, keep going to the far end, and there is quite a large , free public beach with safe swimming for children. A trip by ferry to Naples is a good day out. Though the return ferries were cancelled so we had to find the train station to get back.. The Naples Archaelogy Museum has stunning artefacts from Pompeii, but no refreshment facilities so you have to go down the street to find a cafe. You have to go to Pompeii but we found Herculaneum more complete and much more interesting as most of the stuff has been stripped out of the former. You can drive almost to the top of Vesuvius and then make a 30 min climb to the crater. Parking is more expensive than the UK generally and most attractions do not take credit cards so you will need cash. Capri is a short boat ride away and is incredibly crowded. All the walking is along steep roads and the queues for the public buses are very long. If you only have a short stay, it's not worth the hassle.
    When to go
In September, it's still very hot and sunny, and not quite so crowded.
    Getting around
You really need a car, but Sorrento has plenty of buses, trains and ferries.

    “Room with a View”

Perched high above Sorrento, and looking down on the city below with the bay of Naples surrounding it all. Just breath taking, to say the least. If arriving by train and planning on using the public bus system, it's real easy, and I highly recommend it. The bus stops just outside of the hotel, and from there you can go to Amalfi, or Positano for mind blowing, hair curling ride of your life! If you are afraid of hieghts, then don't go you the Almalfi coast. The breakfast, which is included with the room was excellent. I would, and plan to return back to this hotel, just a great location, and wonderful staff.

    “excellent value”

Beautiful mountain location convenient for amalfi coast and Sorrento and Sant Agatha. You have to catch buses to everywhere but these are plentiful. The peace and quiet and scenery are worth that minor inconvenience. The staff were very friendly and helpful and it is very family friendly. Would definitely stay there again.

An amazing view! The staff was attentive, charming and provided a high level of personal service. Their advice helped us to easily identify which guided tours to take and when to strike out on our own. What fun. This hotel is a great launching point for the entire Amalfi coast.

“Budget costs for a few reasons”

We chose this hotel because we wanted somewhere quiet but that was a 10-15 minute bus ride away from Sorrento centere so we could come and go as we pleased. The views are beautiful here but the hotel and its staff/service just wasn't good. We arrived late in the evening and were taken to our room. However, we had been put into the wrong room (we paid for a sea view, self-catering twin room and were put in a single room only). The room we were given also had the following problems: toilet seat was broken and came off, lightbulbs were bust, there were no plug sockets except for the one the TV was connected to and we couldn't unplug it (just wouldn't come out) and the hairdryer was faulty and set sparks off when switched on. We also had problems with the A/C randomly cutting off, not good! We spoke to the manger in the morning and he said there had been mistake, we would be moved the NEXT day. So we had to spend two nights of our holiday in this horrible room without a part-refund or anything. At breakfast (which also wasn't great), we overheard two other couples saying they had been put in the wrong rooms too - seems like someone was double-booking and not refunding anyone. Eventually, we were put into the room we paid for. It was OK but also had problems: the bed was not cleaned once for the five day duration (we complained but no one listened), drawers were broken, lightbulbs were bust and the shower door wouldn't close. We wouldn't recommend staying here at all!

    “Nice”

Booked a room with a view, assigned an apartment with limited sea view. Information about bus service/schedule by the hotel not correct. Internet service expensive ($0.15 per minute). Comfortable hotel, lousy parking on the street. Not easy to find, especially at night.
