“looking forward to returning next year”
The staff and owners were very friendly and helpful. We were picked up at the airport. When we wanted to go into Sorrento they arranged transport. They arranged visits and transport at no extra cost. We were given personal care and attention. Nothing was too much trouble for them. As it was late season when we were there. for two days we were the only guests staying there, but the service and attention remained the same. I highly reccommed anyone wanting to visit Sorrento to stay at the Johanna Park Hotel. I know we will be going back next year.
“Good for a short break”
A friendly welcome and excellent views of Bay of Naples (& Vesuvius). Staff most eager to please and minibus into town was excellent and saved having to find (non-existent) parking! Eating out is expensive and sadly uninspiring; as is the hotel menu that didn't change over the 5 nights we were there! However, maitre d' was an absolute gem! Plenty of lively coach party guests meant an early symphony of plumbing pipes most mornings, but rooms otherwise very comfortable. Wifi only available in reception/lounge, but there is open internet access via PC. A climb to the top of Vesuvius is a must, and there is parking about 200m from the summit, just follow the signs from the autostrada. The views are superb, but the tacky shops are disappointing. Pompeii is also most worth a visit; but leave yourself plenty of time to look round and be prepared for parking sharks! We would certainly recommend the Johanna Park for a stay in Sorrento, but the way to see the area is definitely from a boat and not from the winding and overcrowded roads - unless you are into "Monte Carlo or Bust!"
“Ab. Fab!”
Treat yourselves to a 1 or 2 week stay here and be spoiled to death. We have stayed in 'grander' hotels but never in one that gave such a wonderful service. From the chamber maid thru to Mrs Johanna herself - no one could do enough for us on our 2 week stay there. For location, service, friendliness and cleanliness give it 5 stars. All it lacks is a larger swimming pool - which is scheduled for year end. A newer shuttle bus would be nice - but as the bus runs are free, one can always use a taxi instead at a cost of 20 euros each way. The view of Vesuvius and the bay of Naples from our huge window and balcony had to be seen to be believed. GO THERE.
“Great Hotel in Sorrento Italy”
We had a wonderful week long stay at the Johanna Park in Sorrento. Very relaxing after a busy schedule in places further north. The staff were very professional and helpful. Meals were very good and mostly appropriate for the region, including good house wines and locally made olive oil. The setting is everything one would dream of for a site in southern Italy. The hotel is relatively new but had a craftsman charm. It was out of the downtown activity area, but that suited us just fine as we needed quiet. The hotel supplied a bus shuttle which really should be replaced but it was available to take us downtown at many hours of the day and also for pickup from the meeting point downtown with a phone call. We felt like family and were treated exceptionally well.
“Excellent friendly, family run hotel.”
Friendly, family run hotel. We arrived tired after driving from Rome via the coast road around Naples. We we greeted in a most welcoming manner and quickly shown to a very reasonable room with a superb view of the bay of Naples including Vesuvius. The menu in the restaurant is good and not too long with a number of local variants of Italian standards all reasonably priced for the region. The house wines are perfectly drinkable if not exciting and reasonably priced. We eat in the restaurant six out of our eleven nights and often had the special of the day which was always excellent. We particularly liked the Lasagna Neapolitan as a first course. The shuttle bus was very convenient and usually very flexible, when they were busy it followed an hourly schedule. My wife and I stayed 11 nights and from the start were made to feel almost one of the family. There were regular tour buses brought American and Australian tours for one or two nights which occasionally got a bit noisy but never a problem. Overall we found all the staff friendly and helpful, they nearly all spoke good English which made me feel almost ashamed that I hadn't learned more Italian. The local area is great scenery and the public transport is definitely less stressful and easier on the nerves than driving; I probably would not hire a car next time. If I go to the region again I will definitely stay in this very pleasant hotel.
“A Great Time”
We had a great time. The staf were very friendly and te hotel was much better than it looked on he internet I would recommend this hotel
“Not recommended.”
On arrival we were accidently given the wrong room, which was already occupied. And then made to feel by Johanna herself that it was our fault. The room was very basic, two beds, one wardrobe, one chair and one 14" portable tv. We were only supplied with 2 bath towels a day, along with 2 hand towels. The breakfast was dull and was exactly the same each morning. The hotel shuttle was handy but occasionally late. I truly could not understand how this hotel was ever rated a 4 star hotel! I would like to visit Sorrento again some day, but i'd never booked the same hotel again.
“Superb position with beautiful scenic views!”
The Hotel was just what we wanted and lived up to our expectations. We had a lovely holiday, Sorrento was magical and the Hotel far enough from the town centre for peace and tranquility yet near enough for restaurants and transport to the sights. The staff were all lovely, very friendly, went out of their way to help us and ensure we enjoyed our stay.Would definitely stay here again.
“The Italian Experience We Hoped For”
This hotel was a dream! The staff were welcoming, helpful, and very friendly. They provided excellent service as well as recommendations for out of the ordinary travel experiences/sight seeing. The hotel itself offered a great view of the small vineyard below and the oceanside -- it was beautiful & relaxing from the, albeit small, pool & lounge area. The courtesy shuttle was also great and ran at convenient times. The hotel restaurant was sinfully delicious--I highly recommend dining there at least once (we did each night). Finally, the other guests were a real pleasure, which was all the more likely due to the great service and overall atmosphere of the hotel (Hello to both the wonderful UK couples we met!! We had a lovely time!).
“Great hotel”
We arrived at the hotel after an almost 24-hr journey by ferry and trains from Croatia. When we finally got to the train station in Sorrento, we had no idea how to get to the hotel. We called them, and they sent someone to pick us up! This was great but it got even better when we arrived at the hotel at 915am, and they had a room ready for us - and let us have breakfast! This was exactly what we needed after a long, tiring journey. The hotel is very nice, breakfast good, views lovely. The shuttle into Sorrento is great, and we were so happy to be staying away from the mass amounts of crowds in Sorrento. Don't book this hotel for the pool, though. It is miniature, but the pool area is a nice, shady area to relax if you have the time. We were too busy seeing the sites -- do go to Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius, they were great. We will definitely stay here again if we were to return. The only negative was that the hotel's computer was very old and kept shutting down, making it difficult to use the internet - however, if you had brought your own laptop you could use the Wi-fi.
