“Will never stay here again”

Hotel indicated that the rooms were air-conditioned. The air outside was actually quite cooler than the room. Complained to front desk, and told them we wanted to be switched to another room where the air worked. They snapped that "This is your room", to which we countered, "Not if we leave and go to your competitors". After several hours, and a half-dozen trips down to the lobby to ask for status, they told us "The machine on the roof is running, you have air conditioning". Funny, however, even with the thermostat at the lowest setting, neither of our two rooms could be cooled lower than 85 degrees. We found that air-conditioning is something that Italian hotels like to skimp on, and that they simply cut off the compressor, leaving you with a vent that blows how air. I suppose this is to save them money. We ran into this at several hotels on our trip. This hotel was clean, breakfast was good, but parking was non-existant (ad claimed they had onsite parking but employees' three cars took up all of it). Staff acted like arrogant morons. We would never stay here again.

Area recommendations

This area is convenient and nice, save for the feral cats that abound.

“will be back”

A basic hotel with charm, family run and by far the friendliest hotel I have stayed in - had knock on effect of making all the guests friendly as well - lovely atmosphere. Room very basic but clean, pool area small but charming - yes the trains and bells can be heard but you do sleep through them - promise. Will definitely go back - great location for sightseeing

Traveller's tip

Use the train - its cheap, easy to use and makes Pompeii etc easy to get too at a fraction of the organised tours. Buy bus and train tickets before you get on and dont forget to validate them on board - very easy.
