“Most friendly hotel I have ever stayed in.”
Most friendly hotel I have ever stayed in, staff wonderful nothing was too much trouble. Although we were bed & breakfast we ate in the restuarant one evenig and by the pool bar both very good value for money. The hotel has a lived in feel but is very clean and has a certain charm about it. Even though the location is a little way out from Sorrento it is still one that I would be happy to reccomend. Station is just a 5 min walk away and there is a shuttle bus from the hotel. There is a great wine bar in the centre of town near the church sorry can't think of the name, if you are eating out then sorrento is best place. Dont miss going over to Capri. Enjoy
“sole not again”
Initial impressions were good, nice entrance and drive with fountain (only saw it working once all week). We were given a room overlooking a bar, the road and petrol stations, then had to wait until the next morning to change rooms after a noisy and poor nights sleep. They claim this room was "sort after" they were welcome to it.........we were then given a room overlooking the pool which was quieter. Generally the hotel is tired and probably not suited to younger people or just don't expect mod cons. No papers etc, room tv reception terrible, we didn't use the facilities, oh yes there were none, the pool was clean but again tired looking. Breakfast was ok but got boring after a few days. We did not eat at the hotel, there are some good places within a stroll and reasonable too, pizza shop on main road behind Tonys bar and the jolly blu bar. A good 20 mins walk from sorrento but there was a courtesy bus that ran at various times. Heard that there is to be a makeover coming up but at this cost you could do better.
“Thoroughly disappointed.”
Hotel is thoroughly average. Not your usual 4* Hotel. Breakfast is a strange affair, not much to fill you up. Some mornings we debated skipping it altogether. The pool area is nice however the water was very very cold, at times too cold to stay in there for more than 30 seconds. The staff however were all very helpful and friendly. Sant'agnello is extremely busy, with the hotel being situated just off the main access route to Sorrento. A dangerous 15 minute walk will get you to Sorrento if you want to risk your life. The shuttle bus provided by the hotel runs at irregular times and is very very busy on its return from Sorrento. We often walked to Sant'agnello train station to get to and from Sorrento. The hotel is an ideal base to explore Pompei, Capri and Vesuvius. Again easy access via the 'Circumvesuviana' trains that run frequently. Sorrento is very very very busy, it's not for people looking to have a relaxing hoilday. It felt more like a city break. We will not be returning to this part of Italy.
“Excellent Hotel in Sorrento”
I stayed at this hotel in 2009, and really enjoyed my stay so I decided to return in July 2010. The experience did not disappoint me. I booked on expedia and asked the hotel direct how much it would cost for me to upgrade my room. They did that for free, so I had a lovely room with a balcony. I ate dinnner in the restaurant which was excellent, and good value. I will visit again in 2011.
“Very disappointed in the hotel”
The hotel merely catered to British Package Deal Tourists to the detriment of other guests. We were not allowed to eat in the dining room at a time we wanted to because of some gala for those package deal British tourists. Everything was catered to those on package deal tours. We would not stay there again. Very disappointed.
“Peaceful Spot Away from the Mayhem”
The hotel manages to maintain a peaceful charm in its own picturesque grounds considering the proximity of the main road. The hotel itself is a little run down in places but we had a comfortable air conditioned room with a very large bathroom and two balconies. The pool area is very quiet with a poolside snack bar which serves good food. The breakfasts were ok, the hot food was never very hot but there was a good continental selection. The hotel is located well out of Sorrento centre and as mentioned in other reviews the main road is constantly rammed with traffic and it is not a very pleasant 20 minute walk with all the fumes and muck. The hotel runs a shuttle in/out of Sorrento with 4 trips each way with a good spread of timings. Alternatively there is a bus stop just down the road at 1 euro each way, taxis are very expensive. Sant'Agnello doesnt have much to offer but there is a nice cafe/bar just to the right of the hotel entrance called the Tourism Bar (not a great name).
“Good Hotel”
A traditional family hotel
“They can't wait to get you out!”
We were promised when we paid for a superior room that it would have a balcony. That was by email before our trip. What a superior room meant was we got a window and weren't in the basement. I complained about the lack of balcony and the concierge/manager(both titles are a joke!) couldn't have been more abrupt and unhelpful. That it seems is there attitude on the desk generally. The pool was fine and the breakfast good but seeing as you have a long 20 minute walk along a very busy road to get to the centre of what is a very average destination it's not worth putting up with sub standard service. They are barely 3 star. The only 4 star thing about them is their driveway and fountain. I wouldn't go back to Sorrento but if I did it certainly wouldn't be to this sorry excuse for a hotel.
“Disappointing did not live up to hopes but satisfactory”
I did not expect a 4* Hotel not to have any sort of room service. We arrived at 9pm on the first day which should have included dinner and was extreemely disappointed to find that there was no food available only drinks from the bar. After a long day travelling and the need for rest I found this most unsatisfactory. Nadine on reception was workshy and could not be bothered but the others were extreemely helpful and made up for the odd one out Nadine. Hotel was clean at all times and dinner had a few choices but was agian not of a 4* standard and more like a high class self service canteen Table cloths were not changed etc Although the service was very friendly once you got over the maitre d being a tad hitlanic..lol quiet area not many restuarants or much night entertainment except bars. entertainment in the hotel was on one night only Overall its what you make it yourself but do not have the expectations of 4*. It is a good 20 minutes to Sorrento or a 10 minute bus ride which is most regular.
“Relaxing Hotel”
We found the hotel extremely comfortable and relaxing - outside of Sorrento itself but easily accessible by foot (15 minute walk) or public bus or courtesy bus from the hotel. The room was cleaned every day (sometimes twice a day) and staff were friendly. The pool was in a lovely setting.
