Great Find

Posted 19-Sep-2014
Cons: Beds are a little to firm for our taste.
Location: Great restaurants in the town - we ate somewhere different every night and didn't have a bad meal. Lots to do and see - the drive to Amalfi, Pompeii.
This was our third visit to De La Ville. We love the location - easy and quick access to the town but quiet and peaceful. The staff really are this hotel's greatest asset. Most of them have been there for years but are still eager to please and want to make your stay a good experience. Always smiling and willing to help. We went on a B&B basis so can't comment on dinner, but breakfast is good and there's a great selection of lighter meals for a lazy lunch in the garden. Spotlessly clean and well maintained. We'll be going back!

Excellent location

Posted 15-Sep-2014
Pros: Excellent position and evening meals all very good
Cons: Towels breakfast and evening entertainment
Location: Close to main square and public transport
Only downside pool on ground floor although large it was overlooked by apartments. Other downside minor point quality of bathroom towels was very poor. Lastly evening entertainment rather old fashioned.

Close to town

Posted 02-Sep-2014
Pros: It was a very pleasant stay
Cons: Bed very hard - uncomfortable nights sleep. Would have been great if the bar man occasionally visited the ground floor pool to refresh our drinks
Location: Close to town center / railway station for trips to Pompeii / Vesuvius / Capri etc. There was a Picasso exhibition on in town.
From the front of the hotel the outlook is Mount Vesuvius across the Bay of Naples. so try get a room with a balcony over the front for an evening sun-downer. The staff where always very helpful and friendly. Meals where ok but we only booked on a BB basis. The hotel is a 5 min walk from the center of town / train station. Trips to Pompeii etc a all very easy. The beach is probably a 15 min walk away - but would not describe Sorrento as beach resort. The lanes in and around Sorrento town center are great but very commercialized selling loads of holiday tat which was a bit disappointing. The restaurants / bars are ok - typical Italian cuisine. Not overly expensive. We however did not go to any top end restaurants. There is a smattering of art galleries plus there was a Picasso exhibition on at the time of our visit. Hired a scooter and went over to Revello along the Amalfi coast rode. Great fun and a really pretty ride - just listen out for honks on the blindbends- you never know is a bus is coming around the corner.

Lovely!

7 day stay in August. The hotel is in a very convenient location close to shops and restaurants but on a quite road. The swimming platform at the sister hotel is free to use and is a perfect spot to while away a few hours

Nice hotel close to town centre

Posted 24-Aug-2014
Pros: Service was good and rooms very nicely presented and clean. All staff very friendly and helpful.
Cons: not over impressed with evening meals. tasty and well cooked but for the price the presentation was not good. Some dishes were same as lunch menu.
Location: Liked being near the town
Good clean hotel and very helpful friendly staff. Roof top pool much smaller than I imagined. Photos exaggerate the size. Lovely large peaceful pool on ground floor with pleasant surroundings. Rooms of good size - we had sea view which was pleasant. Breakfast was very enjoyable with a good selection of food to suit all. Lunch time menu very nice and it was lovely to eat in the secluded garden. We had one evening a la carte meal which we thought was over priced for what was on offer and part of the menu was a repeat of lunch menu. the presentation was particularly poor for the price.

Excellent hotel, will be back

Posted 24-Aug-2014
Pros: Staff who all spoke excellent English
Cons: Nothing
Location: See above
Recommended by a friend. Cannot fault the hotel in any way. Full breakfast, including cooked and the egg lady is brilliant. Number of repeat guests speaks for itself. Catering in the main for visitors from the UK and the USA. Easy walking distance from main restaurant in town, train and bus station.
