“Great Anniversary Get Away”
The staff was great. The Spa was sublime. Attentive but not over-done. Sm room but Lg Bathroom. Super comfortable... Everyone knew exactly what to do and nobody was pretentious. Great Anniversary Get-Away
“Star In Sonoma”
This hotel is beautiful, the staff friendly and helpful. With everything else, came with a price. We're a frugal couple, to pay for parking was a bit much in addition with the cost of a room. If I chose to self park, I shouldn't be charged an addition fee. Our room overlooked the fire pit. BIG MISTAKE! A bunch of boisterous hotel guests got very loud, up until 11pm when the pit closes, they then moved inside where their hoots and hollering - no exageration - continued. Things settled down after 1:30 am. Seems like the hotel didn't intervene in their great time. Best breakfast in California at the Big 3!
“Great hotel in Sonoma but we played in Napa”
Loved the hotel. room was nice with a fireplace. The bathroom was as big enough to throw a part in. We would stay there again.
“Impressed”
We stayed only 1 night & really didn't take in all that the resort had to offer until the next morning! We wished we had at least another day there. The pools & spa looked fabulous & will definitely plan on this place again!
“Sweet but needs renovating”
We had a lovely time, but the hotel itself is rundown and needs a makeover. The carpets are old and dingy, the lighting is poor, the bathrooms are outdated. With Fairmont properties, I have high standards and this one just didn't meet the bar.
“good hotel ,nice relaxing setting”
good
“Great rooms, Comfortable Beds”
This hotel has some really good things, and then some not so good things. The rooms are wonderful, very spacious with super comfortable beds and bedding. The housekeeping was only so, so. Stingy on replacing bathroom soaps, and did only an okay job at making the room look like it was cleaned. As for the food, we ordered in one night. Service was good, food average. Then we went to the Big Three Restaurant in the morning. Don't GO! The atmosphere is worse than any Denny's, the food average at best, and the prices are an absolute joke.
“Really loved the hotel and its gym and pool facilities but felt nickel and dimed”
We loved the location and the grounds of the Fairmont, its in close location to the main highway to get to all the wineries in Sonoma and close enough to the main square to take a cab if needed. The hotel entrance was gorgeous but our room was standard, the carpet smelled like feet and the bathroom was teeny tiny. I wasn't really impressed with the bedroom particularly because you expect so much when you stay at the Fairmont and are paying Fairmont rates. We felt nickle and dimed because the breakfast was super expensive... for what? eggs and toast? seems ridiculous, I could understand if it was a gourmet breakfast but for a continental breakfast to be $20 plus per person? to use the internet without your blackberry they charged you for internet usage... that should be free and parking was expensive, charging $30 for self parking a night. Really? there is a lot of space in Sonoma, we're not in NY or San Francisco. We did go to Sante which is the 4 star michelin restaurant right off the lobby and it was amazing although you don't need to stay at the fairmont for that. The gym facilities were great if you're looking for a hotel with a gym to continue eating and drinking wine during the week! I would recommend this hotel to others if you're willing to pay for a larger room above the standard room so that hopefully it doesn't smell like feet and have a larger bathroom and if you don't mind tipping for everything and paying for unnecessary things..
“Not Impressed Fairmont Sonoma”
After we checked in after 3:00pm and went into our room, the bed sheets was not even on the bed, trash can was on the chair so the room was not ready at all. We have to walk all the way to the front desk to tell them. Not a good first impression. At the check-out time, I tried to check-out in my room via the TV menu option but tried three times and failed. The room was prepaid and I gave them my credit card when checked-in, there was only $15 parking fee assigned so I tried to call the front desk and we got put on hold for 15 minutes and more... I have to walk to front desk again because I thought the hotel must be very busy. Guess what, there was nobody waiting at the front desk!! I walked up to the lady and asked her why she put customer on hold and there was no line waiting and she said she was busy. BTW, there were three people at the front desk at the time so I guessed all of them were very busy with something other than helping their customer put on hold for an extended time. I have high expection with this hotel due to the Fairmont name but I don't think I will spend my hard earned money on them again... maybe they treated people booked via expedia and other travel website different because we got discount rate?? I don't know.
“Way below expectations!”
My daughter and I booked this hotel for a getaway spa vacation. The hotel is located in a rundown area and the entire property has an unkempt appearance. The first room we were given was in dire need of renovation and had a terrible odor. We asked to be upgraded to any renovated room. The second room was much better but there was no deadbolt on the door and the refrigerator had to be swapped out because it was not working. All 3 pools were dirty and the tiles were in need of a good scrubbing. The spa was dark, dank and in need of renovation. Thank heavans we toured it before booking treatments. We left after one night and are asking for a refund on the reservation.
