“Wondeful hotel!”

This hotel is so beautiful and peaceful! We were surprised by how unique this hotel was, with its gardens and architecture, and how incredibly clean and comfortable it was too. We called ahead to tell them we were going to be late, and they made arrangements for us, and it was especially nice how well-lit the walkways were when we arrived after dark in the fog. We stayed in one of the Creekside rooms, which had a large bathroom and a king-sized comfy bed, and a covered balcony that overlooked the central courtyard. There is no fridge, microwave or coffee in the room, but there is a common room across the courtyard where there is a tidy kitchen (has everything but a stove) with little tables as well as sofas, and several coffee pots brewing fresh coffee in the morning - it was so relaxing! When you turn off Hwy 1, the hotel is on the right, and you need to turn into a big parkinglot just past the hotel building; one side of the parkinglot has a restaurant and a coffee shop. We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel and look forward to visiting again.

Getting there
If you go through Sebastopol to get there, stop at a market and get sandwich makings and other picnic foods, as there aren't good grocers in Bodega Bay (there are some good restaurants though). This hotel has a fridge in the common room that has plenty of room to put your food in (we put our name on our grocery bag), and a full kitchen (except for a stove) to make toast, sandwiches, microwavables, coffee and tea.
Outdoors or beach
The road the hotel is on leads along the harbor and out to the Bodega headlands. Staying at this hotel means you can get out of bed and head out there before all the crowds drive in from elsewhere.

“HORRIFIED!”

I RESERVED AN EXTRA NIGHT OR SO I THOUGHT. TED QUOTED ME THE RATE & WROTE INSIDE THE BOOK. THE NEXT DAY, I ASKED MY SISTER, RUTH TO CONFIRM THE TOTAL COST OF THE ROOM NOW. RUTH ADVISED THAT I HAD NO ACCOMMODATIONS FOR AN EXTRA NIGHT. DISAPPOINTED, I ASKED FOR A LATE CHECK OUT & STEVE ALLOWED ME UNTIL 12PM. I ASKED WHERE MY OXYGEN TANK WOULD BE, AS I WOULD NEED TO FILL IT TWICE MORE BEFORE LEAVING BODEGA BAY. STEVE HAD NO ANSWER. RUTH STEPPED IN & ADVISED STEVE THAT ARRANGEMENTS HAD ALREADY BEEN APPROVED REGARDING THE TANK & ITS PICK-UP. STEVE CALLED THE HOTEL OWNER THEN ADVISED THE FOLLOWING:1)THE HOTEL WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TANK, 2)WE NEED TO MOVE IT OFF THE PROPERTY, 3)WE WOULD BE CHARGED $150.00 FOR STORAGE & THE TANK WOULD BE LEFT IN THE ROOM I JUST CHECKED OUT OF. WE QUESTIONED THE POLICY, STEVE REPLIED WITH HOW I HAD ALREADY BEEN EXTENDED A LATE CHECK OUT & IT WAS MY FAULT FOR NOT RESERVING THE EXTRA NIGHT AND SO ON. STEVE WAS RUDE & LOUD SAYINGD IF WE CONTINUED TO DISCUSS THE MATTER & DISTURB HIS PAYING CUSTOMERS, HE WOULD CALL THE SHERIFF ON US. I ADVISED HIM THAT HE WAS THE ONLY ONE MAKING A SCENE BY SHOUTING. STEVE MADE IT CLEAR, I WAS CHECKED OUT & NO LONGER WELCOME. I WAS UNABLE TO FILL MY PORTABLE OXYGEN TANK A SECOND TIME, WHICH CAUSED ME MUCH STRESS AND DISCOMFORT. THE TRIP WAS NOW RUINED. FULLY STRESSED ALONG WITH THE HUMILIATION OF BEING SHOUTED AT PUBLICLY TOOK TOLL ON MY BODY. I WAS IN GREAT DISCOMFORT UNTILL I ARRIVED HOME LATE THAT NIGHT.

Area recommendations
Bodega Bay but certainly not that Inn. It had nearby, Horseback riding available, several gift shops, many art galleries & restaurants all within a healthy adults walking distance. Also, there were several hiking trails & beach areas for day use.

“Perfect for us!”

My 13-year-old daughter and I stayed here for a night before an early morning whale watch trip out of Bodega Bay. For us, this place was perfect! Since we arrived after dinner hours, it was great to have the use of the 24-hour kitchen/lounge. We ate our dinner (which we had picked up in Petaluma), then stored food in the refrigerator overnight, were able to have coffee and light breakfast at 6 a.m. Our room "Monet's Garden" was fine and roomy -- we played a game of Scrabble and looked through the art books, and called it a night. The innkeeper was very friendly and helpful, the ambiance is old-style and comfortable. Some might find it a bit "worn" but it definitely suits our style and I would go there again.

“Bodega Bay InnC”

The Bodega Bay Inn is a quaint little inn in a very quiet area. It shares a parking lot with a strip of shops which include a coffee shop and small restaraount. It is not within walking distance of the harbor, which is inconvenient but also contributes to the quiet peaceful atmos[here. The televisions in the rooms should be upgraded. The screens are incredibly small. This was an inconvenience because I wanted to watch a Giants/Dodgers game. Fortunately, I had firends at the Inn at the Tides, and watched the game there.

Area recommendations
The harbor area has restaurants, access to beaches, scenic views of the bay, views of Bodega Head, and interesting animal life (seals, pelicans, etc.).

“had to pay but would not check in”

This is a tired old hotel. It is an old relic in a place full of lovely competing inns. Located in an unattractive location in a very picturesque town. It is very overpriced for what it is.

Area recommendations
There are motels with views of the beautiful bay and the green rolling hills, that are not much more expensive than this one.
Must see
The fishing boats comming in with their catch and the harbor seals barking and waiting for fish scraps.

“Bodega Bay Stay”

This is a little botique inn, only 11 rooms total. The proprietor was there, checked us in, took us to our room, and gave us a real key. Haven't had one of those in a while. The whole stay was a very enjoyable experience. We would return in the future should our travels take us to Bodega Bay again. If you want to stay at a nice place with all the amenities that is not like all of the other chain hotels and motels, then give these folks a try. Wireless internet access worked well with no problems.

Area recommendations
It is a small little coastal town. We would recommend the whole area. Food at the Tides restaurant was good, Lot of good stuff at the kite shop. For fishermen, there are charters, and lots of beaches to go for walks on.

“And breakfast too”

Nice hotel. They don't advertie it, but it is actually a bed and breakfast. The breakfast room is all self serve 24 hours a day. There is bread, cereals, popcorn, coffee, tea and other. They also have coffee pot, microwave, toaster and refrigerator. Nice little sunroom with tables and chairs. The rooms are quaintly decorated with an antique look. Hotel was originally an art gallery and there still many painting throughout the rooms and hotel. The innkeeper was not around too much. He check us in and showed us around. When we checked out there was a sign on the check out desk, that said the desk was closed. Everyone just left their room keys on the table. For the price it was a pleasent surprise. I would go back.

“Overpriced for a dump”

Very hokey place, run down, and way overpriced, would NEVER recommend this and I'm sorry we had to spend so much money on it, it put a damper on our trip.
