“Nice hotel, shame about the low occupancy and prices!”

The hotel is fairly new and is understandably still trying to find it's character. We experienced a week with 13% occupancy which meant we felt quite lonely and very isolated. The cost of food and drinks in all bars and restaurants on the complex was exhorbitant - £10 for a sandwich at lunchtime and £8 for a 3/4 ltr of sparkling water! Good quality food but blimey! The Spa was completely empty for the whole week and was devoid of any atmosphere. The other spa was a taxi ride away at another hotel. We raised the question of prices and low occupancy with management but they completely failed to acknowledge any link. We would not go back due to the very high price - it does not represent good value for money.

Area recommendations

Not applicable in Egypt. Once out of the complex there is nothing in the immediate area and Hurghada is messy, under developed and not worthy of the trip there.

“Would happily return”

Its largely a positive experience and I would happily return. I list a few negatives for the purpose of balance. 1. Very expensive food and drinks. Our average dinner bill was £85 and a can of coke was pushing £4. 2. I paid extra for a seaview room. It was facing towards the beach side of the Sheraton and they were doing building work on the beach at the time so not the best. Overlooking the complex would have been better as its very nice. 3. All balconies are covered. I know this is common but we went to sit in the sun. 4. Spa is not at hotel but a shuttle bus away 5. Lazy river is not heated. Go out of season and you won't be using the lazy river

“Wirklich TOP Adresse!”

Das Kempinsky war wirklich das beste Hotel in Soma Bay. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet und die Aussicht traumhaft. Wer sich etwas gönnt und nicht im Robinson oder Breakers wohnen möchte, der kann sich im Kempisky echt toll erholen. Jederzeit wieder...

Es gibt keine Möglichkeit sich fortzubewegen. Wer in Somabay ist, der bleibt dort. Viel rumreisen ist hier nicht drin.

Etwas Ägyptische Pfund sollte man dabei haben. Es gibt kein Geldautomat in Somabay.

Shopping

Gibts nicht.

Nightlife

Es gibt kein Nachtleben in Somabay. Ausser im Breakers, aber auch nicht wirklich.

Other

Für Tauchen und Kitesurfen ist Somabay tip top. Sonst eher etwas langweilig.
