"Great hotel with 5* facilities & perfect location"
We've stayed at the avenida Sofia for the past two years (July both times) and have had a brilliant time on both occasions.
First the location; it's literally a stone's throw from the beach, minutes from the main bars and clubs area of sitges and also nearby local supermarkets. It's about 10 mins walk from Sitges train station too which is ideal.
The rooms are well designed, bright and have a lovely shower room. My best friend and I shared a double room and had more than enough space.
The best thing about the hotel is the rooftop pool and bar/restaurant - the images online don't do it justice, it's truly spectacular. We spent many a day lounging by the pool and drinking local Cava and cocktails from the pool bar.
Would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Sitges - I'll definitely be going back in the future.
While the hotel staff were friendly, it is a bit tired and the corridor carpets stained. I guess it is due for a re-vamp soon. The service in the café attached to the hotel for breakfast was very poor; we had to wait ages for coffee cups and plates and the omelette chef was very strange and rude. The hotel needs to attend to this area immediately.
Super convenient hotel, always visit sitges in summer and always return to the melia. Service always top class, rooms always clean. Towels always fluffy.
24hr room service, pool, short walk into town...brilliant!
gym (not that I use that) massage etc.
Check in and out were speedy processes.
Good selection of buffet breakfast options. (Fruit, yogurt, eggs, meats, pastries and rolls).
Huge pool with lots of sun beds. Free towels.
Quiet and peaceful surroundings.
Great staff, always available to help.
Good 15 minute walk into town although lots of restaurants on the marina. (1 minute walk from the hotel).
Close to several beaches (Nudist and family ones)
What a find! We loved our time at Hotel Estela. It is a beautiful, boutique hotel right across the street from the beach in Sitges. The staff is wonderful and every room is unique with its artwork. The breakfast buffet is amazing, so try and buy a package that includes breakfast. If not, you can buy it separately at the hotel for 13 Euros a person. Sitges is breathtaking, and we can't find to come back. Thank you Expedia for finding us the perfect hotel!
Nice Hotel but newly refurbished rooms are a real disappointment, we stayed here last year in the original part of the hotel which provides nice spacious rooms, this year we were in the newly refurbished twin bed room which was far too small for two people, draws within wardrobe could not open fully as wardrobe door banged against the bedside table, requested a room move but hotel was fully booked, staff were very helpful and did try to move us but the next room had the same fault, as just a 5 night stay we didn't mind so much.
Bathroom walk in shower was lovely but already water had damaged the sink units and skirting area.
Air con was a blessing and fantastic!
Room was always clean.
Room lacked mirrors other than the bathroom mirror and only one small rubbish bin (two women sharing!!).
Room was almost complicated to find and get to, there were 3 different routes from main reception to access the room, up then down stairs or incorporating a lift.
Hotel does has a great location, by the beach and short stroll to town.
Staff were all helpful and very polite.
Breakfast was fantastic although a little expensive if not included (15 euro).
Pool and outside area fantastic although we spent everyday on the beach.
Nice hotel bar area although I couldn't buy my morning espresso until 10.30am (fell into a local beach bar every morning to buy one in my pyjamas!)
Hotel was good for a short stay holiday but would only return if I could stay in the main building.
This was our second visit. This trip was very short :-(. The hotel is a little way out of the centre of Sitges which means the beaches are not over crowded, and that walks along the promenade into the town are needed, and lovely. Hotel food is awesome.
Barcelona’s weekend seaside retreat, trendy Sitges was originally colonised by artists and intellectuals and is now a very popular gay destination. It may be the Costa Dorada’s most sophisticated resort but it has maintained its local identity and the Old Town has considerable charm. Sitges also boasts lovely sandy beaches, very good restaurants, a vibrant nightlife and chic boutiques. Visit in February for the riotous Sitges Carnival.
