Our sta at Sun Hill was lovely. The cottage was so cosy and v.clean with a chalet-like feel in the kitchen/dining room and the terrace (just off from the kitchen) was a lovely space to enjoy a barbecue and a few drinks in the sunshine. Just a 5 minute walk from the town and situated a short distance from the red tunnel ferry, it is extremely accessible from Southampton which was incredibly convenient travelling from London.
Me and my girlfriend stayed in this hotel during the bank holiday of August as we were taking part in the Isle of Wight Challenge and found the location and service great. Steve the hotel manager was very accommodating and friendly and we would definitely be returning next year!
"Very convenient hotel for Newport. Pleasant rooms"
all was good except in room 3, the bathroom was absolutely freezing. No heating at all.
In the morning the last thing you need, is a freezing bathroom. The staff did offer to move us which was kind but too much trouble. They also gave us a heater which was OK but v inconvenient.
Overall I would go there again, but not in room 3.
Avril, the owner was very welcoming, the room very clean and had everything we needed.
The breakfast was very good, the full English was plentiful and not greasy, continental breakfast fresh fruit salad contained a good selection of fruit. Couldn't fault our stay and would certainly stay again if we came back to the island. No hesitation in recommending.
We have just returned from an amazing 4 nights stay at Casati House.
I have used the word 'fabulous' in the title, as the décor and service both deserve a special superlative.
We both loved the ambience of the place and the welcome we received. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt really at home. We didn't miss the TV as their were better things to do. ;-)
Our room was comfortable and clean, the décor fantastic (the photos don't do it justice!) and the view across the Solent was incredible.
Ryde itself appears to be on the turning point. There are a few tired-looking shops and restaurants, but plenty of smarter establishments moving in to take over. The Coastal Railway leaves from Ryde Pier, only a short walk from Casati House, and you can connect to the Steam Railway. Quite a treat if you want a break from driving.
I am definitely going to be recommending Casati House to my friends.
If you are travelling to the Isle of Wight and looking for a very special experience, check out Casati House. If you're looking for nice Formica tables and gingham table cloths, go somewhere else.
I also strongly recommend using their restaurant; the food is simply amazing. Fancy a champagne breakfast? This is the place. Indulge yourself... you deserve it.
