“Good hotel, great location”

This is a good hotel in a great location -the 3 minute walk to Orchard Rd was lovely and quiet. The pool area and fitness facility are excellent. The staff are very friendly and efficient. My room, although very standard, was good.

“we go there every year”

it is easy to walk to orchard road shopping or there is a free shuttle bus which is also the stop for the train services which are excellent. From there it is easy to get all over the island at a cheap cost and very quickly. The hotel is in a quiet location but access is good.

Area recommendations

the zoo and night safari are a must as is the jurong bird park. The decorated street lights in December are excellent. There are many other interesting sites eg buddhist temple, indian temple china town orchid gardens raffles hotel

When to go

as it is tropical there is some rain all year but the least is in our summer but then you miss the christmas lights and decorations

Getting there

ba or singapore airlines are direct. malaysian airlines require a change for a 55 minute flight to singapore.

Getting around

taxis are reasonable but a cheaper option is the superb train system which is very easy to understand and spotlessly clean and very quick

What to pack

lightweight summer clothes with a jacket or similar for the very strong airconditioning. temperatures are always about 30c even when it rains. take a small fold up umbrella or buy whilst there.

“Great Hotel, Staff could have a bit more knowledge of Attractions”

Hotel staff is friendly and very helpful for hotel enquiries, but if you ask them about any attractions for tourists they are very vague. Also they do not have a concierge as such to find out any information either. When we asked for information about Sentosa and what to do and how to get there the most convenient way, they could not tell us anything except what we already knew…. Universal Studios is there! We did not find out until the 2nd last day they had a shuttle bus that could drop you off at the train station or other locations. Staff could supply a little more info to help tourists out. Apart from this the hotel is clean neat and tidy, the pool is well kept, and the gym and change rooms are very clean and all convenient. I would stay here again.

Area recommendations

Sentosa is great for families and a great day (or two) out. Must visit Clarke Quay and surrounds also, many restaurants and cafe's! The food court at ION (Orchard Road) has so much variety and all so tasty. Also get a cab to take you to the East Coast Parkway area and show you the Restaurants etc along this area (Unfortunately we were shown it on route to the Airport) No matter what anyone tells you, Singapore can not be done in a couple of days!

“Pleasant Surprise”

“Good Value, but a little dated”

I have stayed at the Traders many times. It provides good value since the internet connection is included in the room cost, where most other have a $20 additional cost per 24 hours for the internet. Recently, I have noted that the hotel is showing its age. Lobby and common areas are in very good repair, but the floors and rooms are starting to show wear and tear. Probably time for renovations. However, everything is in good repair, and the service is quite good, so take advantage of the value. Location is good - close to Orchard road and the Botanical Gardens, and being attached to the Tanglin Mall gives great convenience.

“Great value for money”

We stayed one night at the Traders on our way to Indonesia. Having stayed many, many times in hotels in Singapore, we still think the Traders is great value for money. Having a bit of luggage, the rooms are not the biggest, but still o.k. We really love the efficiency of the staff. Also the location is great. We had free Internet access (should be a must for all bigger hotels) and also breakfast included. The breakfast was outstanding and we had a feast before travelling to our next destination. For our next stay we definitely will consider the Traders again.
