“Expensive but wonderful location”

We loved the hotel...although not really family friendly cost wise... This is our second stay at the Marriott in Singapore the last time we stayed was three years ago. This time around there are major renovations going on down stairs which were obstructive more than intrustive. To save money we know you don't eat in the hotel especially in SIngapore so we did just that. We did however eat and drink a couple of times around the pool and got two nasty shocks: One was corkage at $30 per bottle which is in our opinion ridiculous we made the mastake of taking two bottles of wine with us one night ;-( The other was a $43 bill for two Tiger Beers ;-( You live and you learn...

Must see

Universal Studios was a hit.

Shopping

Mustafa Centre, Funans, and the various shops...its hard not to find somewhere to shop ;-)

Dining

You must eat in the various food courts...yummy food and cheap to feed the family

“Top Shelf!”

Even though our booking was stuffed up, the staff at the Marriott really did their best to sort out the large mess and make sure everything was ok. The staff during breakfast remembered our children s names which made it a lot nicer. Very nice hotel.

“Not impressed.”

We were very disappointed when arriving after a long flight to be shown to a room which smelled strongly of damp and had wallpaper peeling off the walls. One of the bath robes also had unpleasant brown staining on it. When we complained the staff sent up a dehumidifier to help with the damp and advised us it was an old hotel. In the end when I could stand the smell no longer they offered us an upgrade at a price. This room was perfect but it was the room I expected on arrival and not to pay extra for!

Highly recommended, good location and service, reasonable rates by today's standards.

Area recommendations

Orchard and Scott road. Subway station, shopping, good starting off point of all interests . If you have a sepecific interest in one area then perhaps stay there , but for a general headquarters this is very good

“Great Marriott”

I had a great 2 day stopover at Singapore Marriott with my wife and 2 children (13 and 9). The kids loved the pool and we all loved the food. The buffet dinner is really great value, and there is plenty of variety to please even fussy eaters. Staff were very attentive, and the hotel is in a great location for visiting the shopping malls. We will definitely return for future stopovers when visiting Australia or the Far East
