“Not that Impressed”

This hotel is advertised as 4*, it's more like a 2*. I was not impressed with the cleanliness and the food in the restaurant was awfull. The staff did their best, but a whole lot of work needs to be done there. I could not wait to check out.

“Great Value for Money”

Hotel is right in the middle of little India. It is NOT considered the "nice" part of town so if you are looking for a posh place, this is not your area. There are tons of local restaurents around and MRT access is in the mall right across the street. A 15 min walk would get you to Bugis where you can shop for local brands and also see the tightly packed shops. Room was clean, comfy with flat panel TV, a great view from the 20th floor and the furniture is modern. Overall, I do think this place is a great value for money.

“One of the worst hotels I have stayed in”

I found the hotel staff to be very rude and unprofessional. The hotel room was very small for the price that I paid. There are much better options around singapore that provide good service and better rooms.

“Good location, but rooms dated.”

Good hotel located close to a good shopping centre with a great food court. Below the shopping centre is the MRT(tube system) which is a very efficient and cheap way to get around the city. The rooms in the hotel could do with updating, chips out of the wooden furniture, rips in the curtains and loose wardrobe doors.Service in the hotel was very good with all staff members being polite and courteous.

What to pack
An umbrella is a must, but as it is so warm all year a jacket is not needed.

“Hotel for convenience”

On the positive side the hotel is very clean, confortable and convienece. On the negative side, service is a bit average and expensive. However, I will recommend to anyone. Another important point - if we put a request at the time of booking, please make an effort to fulfill the request or atleast inform them earlier.

Area recommendations
Little india - for shopping and food.

“Decent hotel, great service”

I stayed here for a week in Aug 2011 and have to say that I was impressed with the hotel's cleanliness and service. I was skeptical since this was my first stay in Singapore and I wasn't sure which hotel was good. Parkroyal turned out to be a good choice in the end. It was one of the few hotels that included Wi-fi in the room price (most other hotels in singapore charge extra for it). We ordered room service a couple of times and the service was very good. Will definitely go back again if I have to stay in singapore.

“Don't bother with the Internet in your room.”

Singapore is one of the most connected cities in the world, a fact that has been lost on the operators of this hotel. For budget reasons this is my second stay in this self proclaimed 4 star hotel, and again, the internet connection in the room was so bad I could not work, this means spending the weekend working to recover time. How a "4 Star" hotel can have such bad in room internet connection using a LAN connection is no good at all. The Aircondtioning is still on deep freeze mode too, so prepare to freeze or sweat, there is no adjustment in the middle.

“Not really a 4* hotel but convenient location.”

I have to say that I agree with the previous reviewer. The hotel isn't a 4* by any stretch of the imagination, maybe a good 3* with a nice hotel lobby but that's about it. The customer service at the reception desk was a bit hit and miss. I stood there for a good 10 minutes before I was served even though people were available. I wasn't given the room I asked for and when I got to it, I found that the pillows had brown stains on them....not a good start! The bathromm tap had a mind of it's own and would either come out with full force and splash your clothes or not provide much water at all. The airconditioning also couldn't be adjusted so I ended up turning it off as it was far too cold in the room. The location is very good in terms of proximity to the sights and being opposite to the metro station. + there is also a shopping across the road if you want to by food, the hotel didn't provide breakfast with the room.

Area recommendations
You must visit Singapore Zoo if you get a chance. It's absolutely amazing and very easy to get to by taxi, I wasn't sure about buses etc and was short for time so I took this inexpensive option. China town is also worth a visit.
Getting around
The metro system is very easy to use, cheap and efficient. Would recommend it to get around the city in the heat of the day.
Must see
Singapore Zoo - fantastic for adults....as well as children. It really doesn't compare to anything you would find in the UK.

“Two strars too many”

I live and travel extensively in South East Asia, which is to say I am accustomed to the fact that a lot of hotels in the region seem to award themselves an extra star every now and again. The Parkroyal on Kitchener Road is a pretty imposing building with an impressive enough entrance and lobby, it is well staffed with concierge staff and luggage assistance, even reception seemed adequately staffed. The hotel touts free in-room internet access, which I really like, but unfortunately the WiFi in my room was too weak to use, and the LAN connection was too slow to send email, so in effect I could not work in my room. This is obviously a big problem for a business traveller. The room itself was old and in need of a full refurbishment. I changed to one of the hotels premier rooms, the décor was a bit better with a flat screen TV, with the same poor selection of channels, the good news was there was good WiFi signal and usable bandwidth. The Aircon was stuck on Max cold setting or off, no middle ground, so it was either freeze or sweat or hop up and down every twenty minutes and switch on and off the aircon. The last straw was when I went to the ensuite bathroom in the middle of the night, only to be confronted by a cockroach. This may have been a four star hotel in its day, but today alas it really a two star or perhaps a two and a half star at best.
