“The Good, The Bad & The Ugly”

We stayed for 4 and 2 nights with a 4 day break for a cruise inbetween. The Taste Resaurant misses the mark due to poor service and long delays some of the tapis style food was very good other items not so good. Beds were hard and uncomfortable for older people. Room staff were courtious as were front desk and concerge staff. I flagged a problem with Taste (the foyer food outlet) and it was promptly addressed by the duty manager and our meal was refunded. It is an enigma in that it could be so much better with quality staff training in the food and beverage area and a minor upgrade of the interior as it is at present I rate it 3 out of 5.

“Singapore Experience”

The rooms were very well kept and the service was great. Although you will have to take taxi to Orchard for some night life, the bar in the lobby is nice.

“3 Star gem in Singapore - would definately recommend”

This hotel was excellent. The room was quite a good size but I was by myself but my friends in a similar room were satisfied with the size as well. Shower room was excellent. The room was extremely clean as was the whole of the hotel. Check in was painless and early - I checked in at 9.30am. Water was lovely and hot and shower excellent. Soap, shower gel etc provided. Bed very comfortable and I often have problems with beds but certainly not on this occasion. Bed linens and duvet all good quality. TV in room fine. Hanging space not massive but adequate for my stop over. There was a table area in window for computers/office work etc plus a sitting space with padded seat area. Safe in room for safe storage of travel documents which was free to use. I would absolutely recommend this hotel for stop overs or even longer. I would certainly use the Ibis on Bencoolen again.

Area recommendations
Marina area - upmarket area with lovely mall, superb views, pleasant walk with lovely sculptures. China Town - lovely street market etc. Bugis street market.

“Ibis always value for money”

This hotel has everything and I could not fault it. Some people say the rooms are small but I am not sure they were planning to do in them as thy were more than adequate for a couple of nights stay. It was modern , clean ith good and free wifi internet connection in room. Staff were helpful and there is a bar and restaurant too. Taxis were always available at the doorway and are very cheap and the transport system is also good and nearby

“Extremely good hotel!”

Stayed over 8 nights there and didn't have any problems at all. The staff was very polite and helpful. The only let down was the lack of a fridge in the room. Apparently they removed the fridges from all the rooms not long ago. They didn't (want to) tell me whether they planned to bring them back in the future. The room is averagely spacious. It has the usual things like safe, LCD tv, hair dryer and kettle. The power source sockets are all type G 3-pin, so bring a converter if you have non-UK plugs. Internet (wifi) is free for all rooms. There are also a few computer terminals free to use in the lobby. The hotel's location is just perfect. Right behind it is a food court with a huge variety of Asian food. Across the road is the Sim Lim square for your electronic needs. However I found that their prices aren't very competitive compared to online stores. Bugis market is two minute's walk away and the MRT station another extra two minutes away. There is a 7-Eleven and a Guardian drugstore right outside the hotel (open 24hrs if I'm not mistaken) which is very convenient. Will I go back there again? Definitely!

“Decent place for business travellers for couple of days”

Stayed for 3 nights on a business trip. Convenient location, 15 min from suntec convention centre. Room service is not available, which would have enhanced the value. The only restaurant closes by 10:30. Overall, good value for money.

“Good hotel”

I would use this hotel again. The location is good, I walked to all the main attractions without any problems (although some are a distance you can use the MTR, you see more walking). The area felt safe, nice bar to have a drink at night, staff were friendly.

“Basic but comfortable”

The only negative aspect of this hotel was the cost, because I thought it was a little too basic for the price. Also on first morning I discovered I had been put in a room right next to some renovations which is always annoying, but the staff were great about this when I complained, and immediately moved all my things to an identical, quieter room. The room was very clean with queen bed and a small desk. Very small but well fitted out bathroom . It had no fridge, which was inconvenient. TV and cable channels selection was ok. Very basic tea/coffee making facility. A big plus was that they have free WIFI access, nice! Also I never waited more than 30 seconds for a taxi at reception, they are very switched on. There is no pool. There is a metro station pretty close by, about a block away so not a long walk.

Area recommendations
Chinatown for cheap and cheerful food/drink, and touristy markets. Cheapest beer in town can be found in the hawker cafes. Newton Circus has enormous range of cheap food and drink too, but can be a tourist trap and is out of the way. IGNORE the idiots who try to talk you into eating at their stall just because you sat in front of it, you can sit where you like. Clarke Quay for lazy afternoon drinking, try the Brewerkz microbrewery, but the price hikes steeply as you go into the evening. Friday night is insane, thousands of people in the pubs, clubs and restaurants and its a good night out. Bring your cash and dress well. Boat Quay for an awesome seafood feast at 1/2 price of the same you'd get over at Clarke Quay, if you're happy with plastic furniture. Some great pubs around here too. Go at night and keep walking up the river to see stuff like the Merlion statue. Little India for some of the best curry on the planet. Seriously. Try the Banana Leaf Apollo. About 20 temples in the area too if you're into that.

“Comfort in a quiet part of downtown”

Located close to Singapore Management University, the Historical Museum and the emerging artseducation area, this hotel has a lot going for it on the basis of location alone. The rooms are spatious and comfortably furnished and equipped. Highly recommended.
