“Good Centre for Central Tuscany”

My second stay at this well maintained and run hotel in an excellent location for exploring central tuscany. Helpful staff speaking good Englash and other European langagues. Colle is a very attractive and lively hill .town off the main tourist trail but only a couple of Kms from the Florence-Siena autostrada. Good local restaurants and bars around the main piazza.

“Very Enjoyable Stay”

My husband and I just returned from a 10 day holiday in Italy. We stayed at Hotel La Vecchia Cartiera for 4 nights. The room was very clean, The air conditioning worked very well and the hotel staff was most helpful. The breakfast at the hotel offered a wide variety of choices and was the best we had on our entire trip (we also stayed in Florence and Rome). It is also located in a beautiful hillside city and is an excellent base from which to explore the Tuscany region.

Traveller's tip
There is a restaurant that is attached to the hotel (not the same owner) where we had a nice seafood dinner. The old part of the city is amazing.

“Hospitable good value”

The owner transformed his former pape mill into a cheerful, impecably run hotel. He is still very involved in daily operations, making sure the place meets up to his high standards. The location is central (1/4 block from the main square), yet quiet and open. The front desk staff, on more than one occassion, went the extra mile to help us (i.e. sought out bicyle rental options,located a cane after a bike fall, looked up bus schedules). We had a delightful week's stay at this hotel. We highly recommend it!

“Colle Val D'Elsa Hotel la Vecchia Cartiera”

Hotel moderno e confortevole. Ottima disponibilità e cortesia del personale. Camera spaziosa non troppo silenziosa con ottima vista sulla città vecchia. Ampio bagno con box doccia e vasca. Buona colazione. Posti auto al coperto a pagamento.

“Charmanteendroit”

Nous sommes arrivé le jour ou le village était en fête. Les gens étaient chaleureux et l'atmosphère festif. La Place central de la ville est un lieu de rassemblement typique de l'Italie.

“camere troppo piccole”

hotel pulito, buona accoglienza, posizione ottimale, colazione discreta. Unico difetto la nostra camera era davvero minuscola. Impediti anche i movimenti e non c'è spazio nemmeno per i bagagli. considerando il prezzo pagato si tratta comunque di una buona soluzione

“gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis”

Frühstück war sehr gut im Hotel: frischer Obstsalat und frische Croissants.

Area recommendations
Toskana ist eine Reise wert, unbedingt sehenswert sind folgende Orte in der Umgebung: Siena, Florenz, San Giminiano, Casetliana, Barberino und Greve.

“La Vecchia Cartiera, Colle (Toskana)”

Wir haben dieses Hotel als Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten der Toskana gewählt und dafür ist es auch sehr gut geeignet. Colle selbst ist vom großen Touristenstrom noch einigermaßen verschont geblieben, besitzt aber auch eine kleine, aber feine mittelalterliche Altstadt. Ausstattung von Hotel und Zimmer entsprachen recht genau unseren Erwartungen von einem 3-Sterne-Hotel (deutscher Standard). Kleine Abzüge gibt es dafür, dass (zumindest in meinem Zimmer) die Decke mal wieder verputzt werden könnte und das sowohl Toilettenspülung als auch Dusche etwas schwach auf der Brust waren. Frühstück war okay (für italienische Verhältnisse vielleicht sogar besser). An das Meterbrot muss man sich gewöhnen und Eier bspw. sucht man vergebens. Pluspunkte gibt's für den Obstsalat und die Bruschetta. Beim Service gibt's nichts zu beanstanden: Alle Mitarbeiter waren stets sehr freundlich und die Zimmer auch immer sauber. Besonders der Inhaber, der viele Jahre in Deutschland gelebt hat und daher recht fließend deutsch spricht, kümmert sich wirklich sehr um seine Gäste. Internetanschluss ist im Eingangsbereich vorhanden und kann stundenweise gemietet werden. Noch ein Hinweis zum Schluss: Reisende, die zu leichtem Schlaf neigen, sollten um ein Zimmer zum Innenhof bitten, da auf der Straße vor dem Hotel morgens um halb 7 die Straßenreinigung u./o. Müllabfuhr anrückt oder die Stände des Wochenmarktes aufgebaut werden. Die Zimmer sind allgemein recht hellhörig.

Area recommendations
Mit dem Überlandbus problemlos und günstig zu erreichen (Tickets in der Touristeninfo, Busstation neben Piazza Arnolfo - 5 min zu Fuß) sind die Toristenzentren Florenz, Siena, San Gimignano und Volterra. Nur mit Privatauto erreichbar sind Pisa (ca. 1h45, allerdings sehr dürftig abgesehen vom Piazza del Duomo) und Lucca (ca. 2h, wirklich sehr schön und zu empfehlen). Weiterhin sollte man den Weinzentren der Region (Montalcino, Montepulciano, Chianti) einen Besuch abstatten (liegt alles innerhalb von einer Stunde Autofahrt).

“Gutes Frühstück, zentrale Lage.”

Überasschend gutes Frühstücksbuffet für Italien: frisches Obst, Schinken, Käse aber auch Süßes, Kuchen, Cornetto o.ä. Zentrale Lage, daher trotz dicker alter Mauern bei Fenster zur Straße Zimmer hellhörig. Betten recht fest, Einrichtung funktional, nicht neu. Dafür sehr sauber, täglich mehrere frische Handtücher. Chef mehrsprachig, so auch Deutsch, das er gerne redet. Gibt auch Tipps. Parken kostenpflichtig möglich, bei Fußweg von drei bis fünf Minuten kostenlos auf öffentlchem Parkplatz möglich. Restaurant im Keller des Hauses nicht außergewöhnlich aber gut. Hotel als Basis für Ausflüge geeignet.
