Great Resort Away from the Craziness

Posted 24-Jul-2014
Spacious rooms - We had a king size & double bed in the room (not a roll away) for 2 adults & 2 children & still had plenty of space. Beds were comfortably soft. Bathroom had a shower & tub which is a plus for kids. We were on the ground floor overlooking the lily pad filled creek which was beautiful. Terrific, huge pool - Lots of different depths to suit everyone. Slides into the kids pool were a hit with ours. Could have had more deck chairs, but as it was low season - no worries. Prices at the hotel are understandably more than in town or buying drinks from a store. Breakfast was good with lots of choices. Quiet location - We thought we would be too far from town, but it was great to have the resort amenities, while still close enough to quickly get dinner. $7 for a tuk tuk round trip & he waited for us, stopped at mini marts, ATMs, etc. $3 one way, but then you would have to flag someone to bring you back - easy enough, but having someone at hand was a plus. The staff was friendly, but often their English was limited. Arrange your own taxi or go to the "tour" desk - much cheaper then the front desk. $15 for a tuk tuk or $30 for a taxi for the day for the near temples seemed standard no matter where you stay - both easily fit 4 people.

Beautiful resort

We would love to come back and spend more time, only 2 nights this visit. The resort is very nice and relaxing. In between trips to temples and night market my wife enjoyed a spa treatment. The buffet breakfast has something for everyone. Everyone in Cambodia is friendly and wants the tourists to enjoy their visit and return. The town is very small so no reason to chose a hotel any closer.

The best 5 star hotel we ever went to

Posted 24-Jan-2014
We went to the Grand Soluxe with my husband my brother and our mother, adding up all our travelling throughout the world we have tried a great number of 5 stars hotels. For each of us this hotel has been the best. The staff is extremely kind, welcoming and efficient, the hotel is beautiful and the size of the rooms and bath rooms is truly generous. Impeccable taste and clean. The breakfast buffet was very good and diverse, matching the needs of the guests from all nationalities. The hotel restaurant was wonderful and accommodated with flexibility and kindness to any of our needs or wishes. The Garden is cheerful and well kept. My only small reserve is that the swimming pool water is cold and you do need to swim at least 3 to 4 minutes for your body to adjust. :-) The hotel is away from the main road so you do not get all the noise that many of the other hotels must be getting. With a 5-10 min ride by tuk tuk you can reach town or the old markets when you want a break from seeing temples. All of us have been extremely happy of our stay and recommend it heartily !!!

Pros: Staff were very friendly. Tuk Tuk driver was very reliable, was able to hire one through the hotel. Also was able to hire guide and driver for 2 days
Cons: Could often hear the toilet being flushed from the next room. Dinner menu expensive, more vegetarian options.
Location: Close to war museum, cultural village (however very expensive) was able to visit local primary school close to hotel.

Secluded location with excrellent facilities

Posted 02-Oct-2013
Pros: Good facilities. Good buffet breakfast. Tour desk organised taxis and tuk-tuks. Free shuttle to town in the evening.
Cons: Lobby should be air conditioned and smoke free.
Location: Located 500m off the main highway a third of the way from Siem Reap town to the airport. No need to go through town to airport or to Angkor Wat.
Considerable distance from the main drag but with cheap tuk-tuks (rickshaws pulled by a motor bike) readily available during the day and free shuttle at night, getting into town and back was not a problem.
