“for the price okay”
I spent a night in the Sheraton Resort in Sharm and want to say that you shouldn't expect usual Sheraton-perfectness in this houses. On the first look everything seemed to be okay and the room was really in a clean condition. What i have to complain about is that for example the remote control, some plugs and the lights next to the mirror in the bathroom didn't work. The staff in the restaurant was very unprofessional and they took for example my coke from the table when i was at the buffet and when i told them that they didn't brought me a new one as an excuse, they brought me mine back from the kitchen. moreover the disrupted me three times and wanted me to pay with credit card for the buffet while i was eating. (would be more polite to wait till the geust finished). The Sheraton Hotel and Resort area is very well entertained. In the sum i enjoyed my time there and for the price i paid was it okay.
“Not what you expect”
The Sheraton Hotel and Resort was very disappointing and not an enjoyable holiday overall. On arrival we were asked whether we were staying at the hotel or in the resort. Disappointingly it was not made clear to me on booking that there was a choice or whether one was the better option. Unfortunately I was booked to stay in the resort which is definately not 5 Star as quoted on the internet and Expedia. The hotel was better quality and accessible from the resort however the resort was so disappointing with extremely poor service and quality throughout. The buffet food offered to us was of such bad quality, it was inedible and covered in flies! The facilities offered when booking the trip were all in the hotel which was a 15 minute walk away from the resort so the resort ended up offering us nothing worth having, including unhelpful staff around the pool and very poor food. In my opinion it should be made much clearer when booking this trip that the resort is of nowhere near 5 Star standard and that it is only worth staying in the hotel.
“DONT STAY AT THE SHERATON SHARM”
The Sheraton Sharm is, to put it bluntly, "All image and no substance". The Sheraton is made up of a main hotel and a group of resort style apartments. Booking your holiday through expedia will not give you a choice of which thype of accomodation you want(hotel or resort). When booking the holiday we specified in the notes area that we would like to stay in the hotel(after reading a review that was similarly critical of the resort), this note did'nt make it to the Sheraton and on arrival we were directed to the resort reception desk. The overall standard of the room was poor: Filthy couch, fridge not working, double bed=2 singles pushed together, bathroom under stocked with basic items. Staff were friendly but on the whole un-helpful choosing the majority of time, to patch up a problem rather than solve it. On 2 occasions we were directed by hotel staff to go to the main gate to get a cab, on each occasion taxi drivers tried to charge us between 7 to 10 times the actual amount the journey costs. There seemed to generally be a distinct greater level of service given the Russian guests staying at the hotel and being british citizens we did not feel as special as you would expect to feel staying at a 5 star(debateable)hotel. After the 3rd day we called Expedia to arrange a refund and end all dealings with the Sheraton, expedia delt with this swiftly and to my satisfaction. In the end we went to stop at a lesser stared hotel near by and had a fantastic end to our holiday.
