“good value for money”

I went to this area for the diving. the hotel was just for sleeping. there were lots of activities and services available that I didn't avail myself of. However because this trip was last minute, the staff at the hotel were great at ensuring that I was booking onto a dive boat even though I had missed the deadline for their in house dive centre. The resort seemed to have lots of activities happening - place full of East Europeans and the English enjoying the sun. Only minor problem - if you wanted to lounge by the pool - all of them are 'reserved' by about 7 in the morning with towels or newspapers. They then are empty till the revellers come down to the pool around 10am. Had a great room with sea views and far enough away from the action to sleep well.

Area recommendations
I went to the area for the reef and the diving. All the added stuff like night clubs and entertainment were of no interest to me. The diving was spectacular.

“Need”

I would echo the comments made by other travelers that this hotel's grounds and beach are beautiful and the experience is very relaxing. I had only two problems. First, I booked a superior room which stated it came with internet access. When I arrived at the hotel I was told that only the more expensive Marina rooms have internet access. The hotel lobby building has free wireless internet, but it worked only 2 of the 6 days I was there. The hotel staff seems to be without a clue about their internet service, which is unacceptable for a five star resort. Second, my last night there were bad thunderstorms and by 8:30 more than 100 rooms were flooded with water. Not a few drips but a few centimeters (half an inch) of water all over the floor. I realize that it only rains heavy a couple of times a year, but if you are there when it rains, hope you have a room on higher ground. There is no drainage in any of the buildings and most of the rooms are lower than the walkways that channel water. Also the ceiling in the hotel lobby building collapsed in two places. Again this is a five star resort so why can it not handle a rain storm?

Area recommendations
Again the ground and beaches are beautiful. The hotel is easy to get around and the restaurants are convenient. It is less than a five minute walk across the street where there is a supermarket. Water, beer and snacks are one-fourth the cost of the hotel. There is also a pharmacy and other shops. There is only one non-hotel restaurant I found within walking distance and the hotel shuttle bus has a cost to take you to other shopping, but you can find most anything you want on the hotel grounds or across the street.
Dining
As a single traveler, it took me awhile to find the two restaurants that are open from noon to 10:00 and cater those who are not part of the all inclusive food and drink crowd. The best restaurant is IL Grotto, the Italian restaurant near the pool and spa. They have over 10 different pastas and sauces and six pizzas as well as salads. The food is reasonably priced and very good. The other is the seafood restaurant near the beach. It is more expensive and the food is good also. I would recommend the room service menu which I used for at least half my meals. The prices are equal to or less than the restaurants and the food was served hot and fresh.

“Good not bad”

The renovated rooms were excellent, clean and big as well as the bathroom although the shower glass door had some water leaking during taking a shower to the bathroom floor, the bathe tub had the same problem only the water would sometimes leak to the room through the glass window between the room and the bath room just a little drops but u can still notes. The old rooms were not bad same size, the landscape of the hotel was really big but not taking care of and not well organized. the hotel is around 25 minutes from Nemah Bay but the under marina is worth it all it was unbelievable.. the beach is long and big not sandy and not white kind of brown and stony. Hotel has to offer many sea activities some are within the hotel like snorkeling and diving and some are out of the hotel like swimming with dolphins and sea trips. the staff are very friendly and the service is good and quick. the breakfast is decent many varieties though there are 4 or 5 different restaurant I tried the sea food restaurant and it was very good and fresh. Hotel snack was not tasty and not well repaired. I would stay again in this hotel.

“Wonderful Hotel”

The good points: The hotel and grounds are wonderful! Snorkeling off their private pier is breathtaking! The pools and private beach are immaculate. The food was great and quite a selection. There was a different theme every night. Our waiter was great! Our last night he was supposed to be off and when we told him it was our last night he traded with someone else so he could say goodbye to us. He set up a birthday celebration for my son-in-law that was absolutely wonderful. Let me also tell you we upgraded to all inclusive upon check-in. Well worth the money for the food portion of it but if you are a drinker BEWARE! They only offer local liquors for inclusive guests which tastes like cleaning fluids. It was so bad that we only drank beer and soda.

Area recommendations
We did not get to do much sightseeing in Sharm but really enjoyed where we stayed and the promenade in Naaem Bay.
Shopping
Always haggle with the prices.
Other
Casinos in Sharm only use Euro and you must have your passport with you.

“Radisson Sharm El Sheikh”

Mostly this was a great experience. What I would try to fix would be: * arrival of food via room service on a more timely manner. * temperature of food via room service (hot meals arrived cold several times). * staff awareness of posted "Do Not Disturb" signs. This should include phone calls to the room as well while this is posted. Other than the above, which is of no real importance - just convenience, it was an excellent stay, and have already recommended this hotel to many friends, family and co-workers. I loved how everything needed was right there.

Area recommendations
I loved Nabq Bay. Naama Bay was too crowded and very busy, Nabq Bay was more for relaxation and comfort. It was great to visit Naama Bay (8km away from Nabq Bay), but loved Radisson location much better.
What to pack
Swimsuits, cover ups, t-shirts, Jeans (for nightime), shorts, snorkle, fins and mask if you have them for the Red Sea, which is amazing. At night a little cooler in the winter months, but not cold. The New Years party at Radisson had a black and white theme which I am not sure is the same every year, but it was in 2010. You may want to email the hotel and ask prior to travel. No big deal either way, just have fun, which was easy to do.
Outdoors or beach
The Red Sea is a MUST while in Sharm El Sheikh. Whether its snorkeling, diving or just swimming around, it is beautiful. The sea life is colorful and fun, though you must wear goggles/mask due to the salt content of the water.

“Great hotel but WAAAY too far from the action!”

Great hotel, nice landscaping, excellent service. The BIG problem with this hotel is that it's a good 45 minutes away from Naema Bay, where all the activities and night life is. If you're over 60 and just want peace and quite, it's a perfect location. Otherwise, find something closer to the center of Sharm.

“Great location”

It was my first time to Sharm El Sheikh so I picked a "higher end, lower priced hotel". It was not the cheapest, but certainly not the highest. I was pleasantly surprised. I did not have an all inclusive, because I was out diving (the reason for going) so I just ate breakfast. I did order room service a few times and found it to be inexpensive and very good. It is a family type hotel, and very quiet. All activities end at 11 pm. Hotel staff were very attentive and helpful. Hotel is located across the street from stores and restaurants. Had to be careful with eager shop owners. Pizza place across the street not bad. Also had internet cafe which was cheaper than hotel. Booked diving with dive shop at hotel. All prices seem to be about the same. Equipment was good. I would go back.

“Good hotel, inefficient service”

The hotel is in a good place, excellent gardens and sea view. Sadly, check in and out slow, request for room services slow.

“Not too bad all things considered”

The hotel itself was acceptable but falls somewhat short compared to other destinations I have been to. Small details, which would have been no problem in other hotels seemed elevated here. For example we hired the pool table in reception for an hour and after 5 minutes the manager turned the lights off to create ambience. Fair enough, however there was to be no refund on the pool? There were a few instances like this and although not massive problems after a while, began to grate. The staff were in most cases friendly, but one of the pool bar staff was not suited to work with the general public. I heard him say "this is cold enough" when a lady asked for some ice in a cup for her can of drink, she replied "I would still like some ice" so he put 1 ice cube in a plastic cup and practically threw it at her before stomping off. If a male was in the process of ordering a large round of drinks the same chap would also remove drinks from the order and place them in front of single girls also at the bar, this happened on a few occasions and I know for a fact that a couple of people made complaints about his behaviour. These incidents however were isolated and generally we had a good time. I cannot praise the reception staff enough for their help and attitude. The diving team were also very good, and all dives booked ran like clockwork which is not alweays the case at other hotels.

Traveller's tip
I would also highly recommend the massage facility at the on-site spa. I have massages regularly at home but none could compete either in price or effectivness to the ones available at the radisson. I used the gym most days there and although not as well equipped as others I have used still provided a useful workout.

“Hotel is awesome!!”

Welcome to the Radisson!! You don't have to worry about anything! The staff are always willing to help, room service are really friendly and the animation team are hilarious. The food isn't actually that bad, they even have an italian restaurant if you're not big on local cuisine. If you want to go on any excursions, go to the concierge & they can help... but others who are selling activities will walk around the pool area to get you to buy things. Feel free to say no, but mostly they are quite fun experiences :) (we even went quad biking!) It's an amazing experience, not just a holiday, and you can make it whatever type of holiday you like. Most important: Radisson staff don't ask for tips!!! And you're not obliged to do so because it's all included in the prices.

Traveller's tip
There's a wide variety of restaurants on site: french, italian, fish bar & traditional lebanese. Food was relatively expensive- but compared to english restaurants they were *VERY* reasonable. There's a bus to Na'ama bay (where Maccies, KFC & Pizza Hut are) or there's supermarkets over the road. (But you have to walk past shopkeepers will get you to buy things!) You can get ill just from eating salad out there, so take your stash of Immodium with you and enjoy your stay!
