“Fantastic Hotel but Awful Food”
Loved Baron Resort. The service was outstanding, the level of comfort exceptional. We upgraded to an ocean view room on arrival (cheaper to do it once you get there - but you risk not getting a room if it's high season). Ocean view is the way to go. View of Red Sea and Tiran outstanding, esp. at sunrise. The pool was the most amazing I've ever seen. Size of an ocean. There is also an adult-only saltwater pool in a 'quiet zone' which was great. Sinai Divers has a base at this hotel and they are the oldest dive company in the Red Sea and it shows. Cannot say enough about them. If you want great service, go with Sinai Divers. The bad news: the food. Food in the main restaurant was bad, but the 'specialty restaurants' were worse, given you pay more for them. No flavor, no interest, nothing really to eat at all. The Seafood Restaurant served fish so overcooked it was like eating a shoe The Egyptian restaurant cooked all meals completely without spices of any kind. The blandness reminded me of a health spa resort for salt-limited, diabetic, geriatric guests. There was nothing decent in the entire place. It was odd, given the amazing 5-star level of everything else! We tried room service and that was the worst of all. A "Greek Salad" arrived with a bed of shredded iceberg lettuce, sliced cucumbers and shredded carrots. And that's it. No dressing. No feta cheese. No olives. Seriously. We were told the hotel is re-working the food program. Would not return until they do.
“Not what we expected”
I can not say enough about the dive center attached to the hotel. They were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend the Sinai Dive Center. The hotel is a different story. The hotel was intitially very nice but there were a lot of small things that accumulated through the week that did not make us feel welcome. We did not have a room as requested on the ocean side of the hotel, but since we were only half-board, I think there were "special rooms" set aside for half-board guests. When asked about an ocean side room, there were supposedly none available. Throughout the week, we were not made to feel as welcome as full-board guests. When we had to pay for drinks or lunch, it was if the waiters thought it was a very hard thing to do. If we were to ever go to this resort again, I would make sure to select the full-board option.
I personale è cortese, disponibile e assolutamente efficiente.
