“Friendly staff and clean”

The hotel is very comfortable and clean and the staff are very helpful. However, the location isn't great if you want to see the sights of Dubai. The traffic can be terrible to Sharjah. In addition,it is an expensive ride to the airport and the traffic jams are extensive so you need to leave the hotel hours before check in time.

“Good value”

I came across this hotel through the Expedia site and have now stayed three times over the last 4 months. This is not a Dubai hotel and can take time to get to the hotel from Dubai. I must say I have been overall very pleased and staff very helpful. I stay here on business. Excellent value. the fact I use the hotel several times and is consistently good has made me write this review for the benefit of others.

“Good basic service for reasonable price”

Hotels in the Dubai area can be expensive, but this was a reasonably priced option for an overnight since I didn't want to be too far from the Sharjah (UAE) international airport.

“Near Old Sharjah”

The hotel was a good four star hotel, but it located in a busy crowded neighbourhood. Sharjah is more reserved than Dubai & I would not recommend this spot for sun & fun at the beach- but would be good if you here for business nearby. It is near Old Sharjah so it is good if you are into history.

“Excellent location. looking forward to go back”

The location of the hotel was very good. For a four star hotel it was ok. I have stayed in better 4 stars. However, i must honestly say that that i really enjoyed my stay at the hotel and was very satisfied with the services i used. Which includes breakfast. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Sharjah.

“OK”

Very friendly and helpful Reception and Concierge staff. Asked for non-smoking room which we were placed in but the previous occupants had clearly been smoking and very little effort had been made to get rid of the lingering smell. Bathroom was a bit dated and needed a really good spring clean - tiles and grouting were dirty. Having stayed at the hotel I am surprised it is graded 4 Star. I can only think that this is because you have access to a private beach/hotel facilities, at reduced price, which is located a short drive away.

“First time's the charm”

I have stayed at the Rotana twice now; the first time, I had an excellent experience, but found my second trip lacking. A number of things that were supposed to be sent up to my room never made it, necessitating that I go down to the lobby to retrieve them (towels, DND sign, etc.) on multiple occasions. Moreover, my room key card stopped working on two separate occasions, again forcing me to make extra trips to the lobby. I had booked a king-size bed, but when I arrived, they had none, and I was forced to stay in a twin bed for the remainder of my trip and was offered no sort of compensation for taking this downgrade. The hallway was incredibly noisy, with children running around very late at night - when I complained about this the next morning, the girl at the front desk simply laughed and told me that there had been lots of complaints from others on my floor last night. I was also disturbed on more than one occasion by room service delivering something that I had not ordered to my room. Finally, at least 4 different times, the hotel desk and concierge desk gave me incorrect information regarding tourist attractions and taxis that in some cases significantly hindered my ability to get back to the hotel in the evenings. While I would recommend this hotel to others based on my experience staying at other hotels in Sharjah, this is not saying much - I was extremely disappointed by this experience and hope that the hotel attempts to improve itself soon.

“Hotel Good, distance to Dubia bad”

Good hotel with friendly and helpful staff but Sharjah is a long travelling distance from some of the tourist attractions in Dubia. This was made worse by rush hour traffic. The hotel has a free courtesy bus to Dubai city at 9.30 in the morning and returning at 2pm but the afternoon bus would not allow enough time in town. Local Taxi's are avaialable but they charge an excess to go to Sharjar as it is separate Emirate and it took us one and a half hours to get from the wrong side of town to Sharjar during the evening ruush hour.

“This is not a 4 star hotel”

According to Expedia rating this was a 4 star hotel but it was nothing like one! The room was not clean. The chairs were stained really badly to the extent that I had a hard time convincing myself to sit on them. The beds were OK and the sheets and linen were clean. The room was very poorly decorated. The furniture were old. The TV did not work well. When the TV was turned on there was sound and no picture. One had to tap it on the side a couple of times for the picture to show. No iron/ironing board in the room. The bathroom was not clean and had a disturbing unique smell to it. Shower curtain appeared old and not clean. Amenities were minimal. The breakfast buffet wasn't good either. The pastries were never fresh and there were not that much variety. I would never set foot in this hotel ever again!
