“GREAT VALUE”
Great value, amazingly spacious apartment, particularly considering its location - we'd definitely stay here again. It was convenient to have the kitchen, especially the fridge and water cooler when temperatures hit 40 degrees. Crockery/cutlery were provided for each person but no pans or cooking equipment. We were told we could hire these for a small fee but ended up not bothering. All the staff we encountered were helpful and polite. A very friendly lady in the launderette helped us to use the machines and had folded all our laundry by the time we returned for it (the cost was minimal). There is a good value buffet breakfast (our deal did not include breakfast) with plenty of choice and eggs cooked to order. The menu is reasonably priced and room service is available until 10pm (very welcome when we returned exhausted after a day trip to Suzhou). The pool is pleasant and it was relaxing to have a swim after sightseeing in the city. The location is great. There are convenience stores round the corner and you can walk to the Bund in 20 minutes and to People's Park in 10. This was a fascinating place to visit early morning when the locals are out doing tai chi and various other forms of exercise as well as taking photographs of the really beautiful lotus flowers in August. You can also easily walk to the YuYuan Gardens from the apartments (although walking anywhere in Shanghai isn't easy in the ferocious heat and humidity of August!) Taxis are cheap when you run out of energy!
“An oasis of calm in an a busy neighbourhood”
The receptionists at this hotel were friendly, helpful and welcoming. I arrived early and they were happy to check me as soon as possible. My 'apartment' on the 11th floor was spacious and comfortable with more than enough storage space for my luggage. The bathroom was perfect with a shower bath and power-shower. The breakfast was excellent value for money and there was plenty of variety both continental and Chinese. So if you have a long day of sight-seeing ahead you could get off to a good start here especially as they were offering a 20% discount to guests. The hotel's location is excellent and within easy walking distance of most of the central sights. Also it's very close to the subway (Da Shi Jia's Exit 2 is in a MacDonald's is the closest) if you want to travel across town. I don't have any complaints really except the Laundry Service was a bit chaotic. I was traveling alone and so was wary of how I might be treated. But I had nothing to worry about and I would happily stay here again.
“Brilliant for the money”
Compared to some of the hotels in England this was brilliant. The room we had had a nice large sitting and dining area, 2 reasonable bedrooms and a nice sized bathroom and kitchen. We found the hotels resturant slightly pricey but there are plenty of alternatives if you venture out of the hotel.
“Excellent location - ideal for families”
We stayed in a 3 bed deluxe apartment. It was clean and well serviced and a great location for getting about. It is not a five star hotel, however the pool was great and so was the hot tub and breakfast was very good. Staff are friendly and helpful. Easy access to the airport - You get a barrel of water which is useful for filling your water bottels for the day. Towels are all provided and rooms are cleaned everyday.
“Good Value for Money”
This apartment hotel is situated a short walk from People's Square and the tube station. It provides clean, spacious, well appointed rooms, a good western buffet breakfast, a large (for Chinese hotels) swimming pool, and is generally good value for money. The in-house laundry service is extraordinarily cheap and returns laundry the same day. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. Ideal for a family at less than half the price of the big (impersonal) chain hotels in Shanghai.
“Good price, Good location”
I often stay here for a week at a time. The suites are spacious (especially the two bedroom ones) but try to avoid the 8th floor. The area around the hotel is great with lots of very varied restaurants - including a late night lamb kebab stall, also if you are interested a bunch of musical instrument shops. It's probably not suitable for people who want a cosseted hotel experience although the staff are very helpful. Snooker table in bar, good rate on bags of laundry. It seems to me one of the most local engagements you can find within easy walking distance of Nanjing Dong Lu.
“Good value for money”
We had a large, two bedroom suite that was extremely comfortable. Very good buffet breakfast. Not the greatest location but 10 minutes walk to good quality shopping. Front desk staff very helpful and always happy to write down addresses in Mandarin, which is a necessity.
“good rooms good gym and pool go back 1 day”
hotel is well positioned can walk to mostly everywhere, in the midle of chinese comunity. rooms where very comfortable. got a taxi from airport cost 350 rmb. the return taxi from hotel to airport using meter was 140 rmb. found this area very safe.
“Excellent Value for money and a good location”
We are a family of 4 (2 x Parents and 2 x 6 year old kids) and we had an amazing time in Shanghai. We had a 3 bedroom apartment which was supurb for our needs. It was spacious and had a small kitchen so we could give the kids breakfast before we went out. The hotel's location is only 5-10 m inute walk from People's Square and we walked everywhere. Many places to eat around the hotel too. It was a very good value hotel and we would book it again if we get back to Shanghai.
“Great for families”
We stayed in one of the 3 bedroom apts for 2 wks. The size and standard of furnishings better than expected. The location was perfect. We were able to walk nearly everywhere. Pool lovely, but you will need a swimming cap. From previous reviews we knew that cooking equipment is available from reception for 10 Yuan, but this is not advertised. Only complaint was that the windows were not regularly cleaned and we sometimes got a smell from one of the two bathroom drains. Otherwise the apartment was lovely and clean. We would not hesitate to stay again.
