“A good hotel for the economi rate.”
A very nice hotel situated 500meters away from Shanghai Railway Station Subway and close to the long distance Coach Terminal. Take exit 6 but walk toward the Line 3 and 4(glass city). Pass the Macdonalds and this tall hotel can be seen from far away. Good Breakfast, very busy, enough Western items. Soft beds, clean rooms, a good quailty Hotel for thet rate!
“We'd Stay Again”
This Holiday Inn was our favourite of those in China during a recent stay. The proximity to the railway station was useful. Be warned that it is at least a 1/2 kilometer walk though. (Also, it is best served by Subway Lines #3 or #4. Line #1 running from People's Square requires another 1/2 kilometer walk within the Shanghai Railway Station itself.) We especially loved the inclusion of some Western items in the busy breakfast area. We beds were among the most comfortable we saw in China.
“convenient location for train travel”
very good . I stopped for two nights in Shanghai on my way to Beijing after a long haul. Took a train from Shanghai to Beijing , worked like treat. Perhaps a little tricky to find at the first round from the subway. but once you are there , very convenient for getting out and about. Not to be confused with other big Holiday Inn in the same vicinity where I ended up first. They showed zero knowledge /interest about their corporate sister hotel that sits in the same area. But at the Express very limited English spoken staff made up the rest with smile. Altogether the hotel served my short stay purpose . And a good no fuss Break fast too. well done ...
“good place to stay and save”
this hotel is very good compairing with its prices ,its very close to the subway stations ,shanghai railway station . the only differance between this hotels and others neighbours hotels is the location ,this hotels is in the north side of the station which is very hard to reach with a taxi ,but its very easy to wake through the train station from the south side to the north side . *** all the resturants , shops and attractive areas are located in the south side of the railway station .
“Excellent hotel for the price.”
The hotel is situated near the main Shanghai railway station . The under ground is within walking distance. The bus to the airport is close by. Hotel is great value for the price. Staff are very friendly and helpful their English is poor in most cases. ( However my Chinese is no better.) Hotal is very clean and quiet . It is an excellent hotel for the price. Breakfast is basic and mainly Chinese food. There is Cornflakes and toast and jam
“Will stay there again anytime”
The service and staff were very good. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the breakfast which was very basic. However if you were Chinese there was plenty of that type of food. Over all for the price it was excellent.
“Very Functional Hotel”
I have recently stayed at the hotel as I went for a business trip to Shanghai. The first impression was that it feels like a very functional hotel and nothing more. Having stayed there for six days I regretted not staying in a better hotel. The breakfast was absolutely dreadful except if you like Chinese rice and boiled egg every morning for breakfast. The hotel surrounding is terrible and very scary because of its proximity to the coach station and the rail station, the area is always full of miscreants. I would rather pay more to stay in a better hotel. It provides zero help for visitors and tourists. Having said that if you need a functional hotel then it suits that purpose.
“Eh....”
The phone connection was very bad. Calls from America could not connect very easily, took more than 10 tries to get one call through. Service is ok, should be better. Cleaning people are nice. People at the counter can be very brief, and for the most part put your query on hold in order to serve another customer before or at the same time as you. It sometimes took more than serviceperson to serve one customer, and it would even go up to 3 servicepeople per customer, which in my opinion shows their incompentance to serv one customer by themsevles.
“Good price but the location is terrible”
Unlike some reviews from earlier in the year, we did not have a problem with the taxis dropping us off in front of the hotel; our problem was trying to get a cab in front of the hotel. We had to walk about 3 blocks to find a cab, which is OK when it is not raining. The breakfast that was included is probably better if you are Asian, as it included a lot of local food selection so we stayed safely in the toast and coffee + cereal zone, but again for the price it was a decent breakfast. We did have an issue in the bathroom as it continuously had a foul smell -like sewer- even right after it was cleaned. I think it was the pipes but that was just horrible. They have free wireless in the rooms and even free use of computers in the lobby area, as well as business center. It was about RMB20-40 away from major tourist spots and for the most part the receptions personnel spoke English and were helpful.
“nice hotel”
clean room, nice staff, nice breakfast, nice location that just near the bus station and train station, but the street outside the hotel is bad, too dirty and too noisy
