“very nice”

Working the Minnesota Renaissance Faire it is close to grounds. A great place to come back to and relax in the evening. Two jacuzzi's, one at 93 degrees, one at 104 degrees for those who like it warmer. Clean rooms and a nice location just off the highway.

“It was ok...”

The Americas Best Value Inn (Canterbury Inn) was just ok. The lobby is very nice, clean and well kept. The room was not that great, smelled kind of musty and like old smoke, even though it was a non smoking room. The beds were kind of hard, but the pillows were really comfy. The bathroom was old looking, the shower had poor water pressure and the tub wouldn't drain. The pool area was very nice, but looks much bigger in the photos online. There is a fair sized pool, 2 whirlpools, small exercise room and small game room with a few arcade games. The staff were nice. The continental breakfast was pretty basic: toast, bagels, cereal, some fruit and juice and coffee, nothing too exciting. For the money, I've stayed in nicer places. It was convenient to Valley Fair which was the main reason for our trip, but otherwise there's not too much around.

Family-friendly activities

This hotel is only about 5 minutes from Valley Fair and Mystic Lake Casino is just down the road. Canterbury Park horseracing track is pretty much right next door. There is a Culver's across the road and McDonalds next door, otherwise I'm not sure what other restaurants are nearby.

“Average at best”

Hotel was not very impressive. Needs to be updated as the rooms look old. Our room was very humid. Was not impressed with the breakfast not as much selection as I see at a lot of other hotels. It was nice that breakfast was served til 10:30 through. Service was good but overall this hotel was just average.

“Back home”

The rooms do not have wireless connections, you have go out to the pool area to be in range of their wireless service. Room did not have cords to hook up to the network. Called the front desk to see if they had a cord, they said no they were all rented out??? Rented say what??? We were there on a Thursday.....

“BEST HOTEL I'VE EVER STAYED IN”

The beds and pillows are extremely comfy. I went through so much trouble with things they upgraded our room and we had a great time. Great hotel, great people!!!

“Great Hotel”

I wasn't exactly sure what to expect with ordering a hotel online, but i was very impressed with this hotel. They have a bar that serves homemade pizza and a steak restaurant and the pool area had two hot tubs and a very well put together pool area. I was very impressed, definitely will book there again if in the area.

“Older hotel that is just average”

Stayed here because it was close to Canterbury Park card club/racetrack. Unfortunately, it's about a mile or so away from the entrance, so walking was out of the question because it was only about 10 deg F outside. The hotel was just average. It could use some paint or new wallpaper to make it look better. You can tell it's an older hotel, so they're doing pretty good with what they're given. Oh yeah, there's no sign that says Canterbury Inn. It's Americas Best Value Inn & Suites, so I guess they were recently bought. There is high speed internet in the rooms, but you have to use a cable to plug your computer in. I don't know if they have any as loaners. I had my own. The water flow in the shower was poor. They obviously have a flow restrictor on the shower head, so washing the shampoo out takes a while. I'm guessing eventually hotels will put on such a horrible water restrictor that there will be only one tiny stream of water coming out. The beds were comfortable, though. I was pleased with that. The pool area was nice. There were also two hot tubs. One was set to about 104 deg F, and the other was set at about 93 deg F. I was pleasantly surprised with the in-hotel restaurant called Arizona Steakhouse. The restaurant looked very nice, which is unique for a hotel restaurant. I had the prime rib and would rate it a 6 out of 10. The service at the restaurant was absolutely fantastic, which added to the positive experience there.

“Definately a return stay”

Staff very friendly and breakfast was fabulous. Bed and pillow were great. It was close to attractions and easy to get to.
