“Hotel San Gil.”
San Gil was clean, pleasant and modern, but with nice Spanish touches. I walked about 15 to 20 minutes to the Cathedral and all the sights in old town Sevilla. A taxi to this hotel from the train station was only about 6 Euro. The staff were helpful and my room was quiet. I recommend staying here if you don't mind the walk to sights through Sevilla's quaint streets. Safe neighborhoods, so no worries there.
“Pleasant enough hotel”
This was a Winter break so we didn't investigate roof terrace. Can imagine patio would be good on a hot evening. Room was spacious and comfortable. Handy for transport to the tourist sites. Restaurant lets it down.Very basic and poorly prepared considering its hype. Much better options round the corner.
“Good experience at the San Gil”
Parking was extremely difficult and then expensive to park in the hotel lot. The room was very clean and pleasant, but was next to the courtyard which was noisy at times. The San Gil was within walking distance to downtown locations and restaurants. The hotel staff was very accommodating and helpful. Overall the hotel was very satisfactory.
“Good find but difficult to find ;-)”
The hotel is in a residential neighborhood, appearing to be lower middle class. However, we had no problems walking around in the neighborhood late into the night. The only problem I had was that it was difficult to find in a neighborhood with small alleys, dead ends, etc.
“Swanky modern at bargain prices - will stay again!”
We loved the San Gil - very relaxed and comfortable, excellent staff, and a Flamenco performance Saturday night in the courtyard. Nice rooftop pool. We had a junior suite which was extremely large for Euro standards - they have onsite parking which is a huge plus. Regardless of where you stay, make sure you have GPS though, Seville is very difficult to navigate. Location was pretty good - easy walk to Alameda area - great tapas, etc. Cathedral area was a bit futher away
“Oasis in the outskirts”
Having seen the exterior and surrounding neighbourhood on Google Streetview, I didn't arrive with great expectations, but inside was a revelation - a modern 4-star hotel set around a tree-lined courtyard, evidently high-quality and well-maintained. The layout seemed a little confusing at first glance; some rooms overlooked the main courtyard, some seemed to be off in annexes and one seemed to incorporate a turret. Ours, a decent size, faced a lightwell, and unusually the only window was the double-width door; not a problem. One warning for fellow caffeine addicts: the room had no tea/coffee-making facilities at all. We'd been unable to book breakfasts via Expedia (why?), but there was no problem about paying on the day, for one of the better breakfast buffets I've experienced in Spain. The location was a slight disadvantage: 20-30 mins walk from the central area, through tiny streets. The few times were atmospheric; a view of the 'real' Sevilla, but the twice-daily walk began to pall. Taxis would have been possible (though one we tried got lost and dropped us streets away from the hotel), and I think buses serve a nearby plaza. Otherwise: recommended!
“Nice hotel for a break”
The hotel was very welcoming, and all of the receptionists were very helpful and accurate in their descriptions of what was good to see and do in Seville. Breakfasts were very good (we didn't eat in the hotel out of choice so cannot comment on the evening menu). It was about 20-30 minutes quick walk to the centre which was its only downside, but you can't have everything. The swimming pool was a welcome bonus.
“Would go back”
Very helpful staff. Clean and comfortable in a nice middle class neighborhood that wasn't touristic. It is a 15 minute walk to the heart of the city and cathedral
“Wonderful Surprize!”
Hotel San Gil in Seville was wonderful as I've never used Expedia to book accommodations before, didn't know what to expect, and was pleasantly surprized. And, given that I was travelling abroad in Spain when I booked it I had no expectations. The hotel was nestled in the heart Seville, a lovely representation of Spainish design, with warm and friendly staff. Walkable to all the must see sights.
“great stay at the san gil”
we stayed at the san gil .for 3 nights in august .it was a good base to explore the city of seville, the hotel was clean and of a good standard, the staff on reception were very helpful and freindly.the pool area on the roof was a great way to cool down after a day in hot seville, there are around 30 sunloungers ,so we always were able to lie down and relax.getting to the hotel from the airport cost around 30 euros by taxi,or you can catch 2 buses which would be cheaper.the hotel is agood 25 minutes walk to the centre of seville, the city is lovely, lots of great sights, lots of tapas bars.very hot in august around 41c.we had breakfast in a local cafe near the hotel for a few euros.if you dont fancy going back into the centre of seville in the evening after freshening up,hercules square is only a 5 min walk fron hotel with lots of bars, restaurants.
