“Seoul - The Koreana”

I was impressed with this hotel. Its location is perfect for being in the heart of Seoul. It is close to the Palace, shopping, transportation and food. I would stay at the Koreana again.

Area recommendations

Definitely go to Namdaemun (Shopping), Dongdaemun (Shopping), Namsan Tower (A view of Seoul) and Insadong (Traditional korean food).

When to go

September. Temperatures were in the upper 70's and humidity was low.

Events and shows

Go see 'Nanta', a live comedy cooking show.

“Enjoyed Our Stay”

Except for a huge carpet stain in front of the sofa, the room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. The hotel is centrally located and is only a short walking distance away from several tourist spots and restaurants. More importantly, we felt safe walking around the neighborhood at night. Make sure to check the minibar inventory right after checking in and point out any missing items. We had some issues regarding this but I would still highly recommend this hotel.

Area recommendations

The King Sejong/Admiral Yi museum is only a very short walk away, and gives you a brief history of Korea for free. It's worth checking out.

“Good hotel choice”

The Koreana's best features are that it's in a good location and that all the taxi drivers will know where it is. The furniture in the rooms is kinda old, but that's really the worst thing I can say. And since we did not spend a lot of time in the room, it wasn't an issue. Right across the street is the KT Bldg where they have free music performances Thurs-Sun at 7:30. I went to one during my recent stay and enjoyed it. Also across the street is Kyobo, this huge bookstore. Also across the street is this huge underground mall that has a ton of different restaurants. We ate at Bulgogi Bros. there. It was really good, but only go there if you're up for a BIG meal.

“World Traveler”

This hotel is predominently occupied by Japanese tourist and I have to say they are so well mannered and civilized. The hotel was completely sold out but it was so quiet throughout my stay (10 nights) and I hardly could believe the hotel was fully occupied. Very conveniently located for my purpose..and I could get a cab at any time of the day. Service was very good and the restaurants were good as well. This hotel is very reasonably priced for what they are. There were two inconveniences for me, one that there is no thermostats in the room (centrally controlled) and there is no safe in the room (only behind the front desk), but those inconveniences were compensated by all the other pluses. I used to stay at 5 star hotels with double the rate and I just can't believe I paid so much in the past with those 5 star hotels. This hotel provided me everything I needed, I enjoyed the understated comfort and appreciate the reasonable rate. I will definitely go back to stay with them in September of this year. :)

“Koreana Hotel”

It's a great hotel in a great location. The room was fine, and the place is great.

Area recommendations

Gwanghwamun, the neighborhood of the hotel. It is safe with exciting cites (like the royal palace, Insadong) and has good shopping. It is convenient for walking and for the subway and airport buses. I loved it there.

“Koreana is a great deal, great service and great location!”

We stayed at the Koreana for five nights and couldn't be happier. The room was spacious, had everything we needed (except a safe) and service was the quickest we've ever had it. It is in the center of Namdaemun and a close walk to everthing. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

“OK for the money and Location”

Koreana is an OK hotel. It's in an older building so it reminds of an old New York hotel. The location is great and very convenient. One metro stop from Seoul Station (or a very short taxi ride) and VERy close and convenient to downtow Seoul and all its attractions. Overall I liked the stay and I will stay there again. The public areas of the hotel are a little worn but the room I gad was spacious, clean and well maintained. Good value for the money.

“Great location, pretty basic service”

If you just want a hotel that's clean, centrally located, and basic service, Koreana Hotel is great. Location was good, service was basic but good, but the hotel needs an upgrade as it is looking a bit dated.

Area recommendations

Walking distance to Myeongdong, Dept Stores, great central subway stop, plus taxis aplenty. SHort trip to Samcheongdong which was absolutely beautiful with great eateries and shops.

“Can't wait to go back.”

This hotel is very impressive. Quality of the room, service, staff was tremendous. Within walking distance of great attractions. Food excellent. Can't wait to go back.
