Underwhelming Experience
From the photos, you get to see how nice the rooms are etc. Each room have different concept etc. ONLY if you pay for the most expensive rooms available. Which we did not know there is a difference in room concept. We paid for a normal queen size and room. And the room is nothing from the photos as advertised. However to be fair, the room is fairly big enough to put luggage and walk around. The toilet and bath tub is big enough to roam around. That was the only thing that is positive from my experience. The bed is another let down. I know the material under the bed sheet is suppose to prevent any stain for the mattress. But it is damn noisy as it sounds like plastic. Not comfortable to sleep on. As for room service, nothing much was done. Bed sheets tugged in, no change in blanket nor bed sheets or pillow case. It was only after a few days later the room service changed the blanket and bed sheets. Another encounter was after the first night we did not want the room service. But however despite putting the sign "Do Not Disturb" they still clean the room when we are not around. We had some valuables lying on the table etc. But lucky nothing went missing. From then on we just ask for room service everyday and keep our valuables. In all, it is a average experience. Not so recommendable. Only stay if you are a Korea expert and know your way to nearby places and trains and you are fine with subpar hotel standards.

All the rooms are fairly unique. What an incredible location by Cheonggyecheon Stream and to so many other sites which we wanted to visit. We enjoyed walking and biking around the area. As much as we liked all those features, the staff were the best assets because they were so helpful and accommodating. Thanks for such a wonderful experience.

Very pretty hotel room but not the most practical
The room I stayed in was really pretty. It had a tree in the room and was very spacious. The staff were also very nice and overall the hotel and the room was very clean. However, it was not a very practical room to stay in. There were no places to hang my hand towel or bath towel or clothes in the bathroom. There was no full length mirror or space in front if the mirror. The lighting was also very dim. The entrance to the hotel is also in a very strange and difficult to find alley that does not feel very safe. Only 1 hanger was provided as well. I had a good experience, but I doubt I would go back unless they improve the facilities in the room.

Attractions and Myeong-dong is very close, and within walking distance. And, I like the hotel shower and bathtub. 以前は日本語が通じましたが、今は日本語通じません。

Whilst the staff tried to be helpful and were very polite they didn't actually do what we asked. The room was far too hot even with the aircon on because the underfloor heating was I high. Each day we asked for it to be turned down or off but nothing was done. The hot water ran out during the shower and although the room had remote to work everything including the lights it didn't work ! So would not visit again.

Great location!

Design flaws
Strikes as a converted love hotel. Worst of all, the mattress type seems to be the same as in its old use. No (apparent) way to regulate temperature (thermometer showed 33C on arrival) - floor heating. Nice staff though. Bathtub only, short shower hose. Close to a major road, but hidden in an entertainment district.

good location n spacious room. but the room was quite dusty and the design of the bathroom was stupid... the whole bathroom gets wet after ur shower. not enough sockets. i had to put the kettle on the floor to boil water as the only socket was under the desk... lighting is also too dark... girls simply cant do makeup well... sigh some hotel staff english was too bad, couldnt even understand "ferry pier".......

Hotel The Designers was what I expected from the name - Great in concept and to look at but not very practical for a longer stay for the standard room we chose. There was very little space for luggage, and the bathroom was interesting in that there was nothing stopping water from going all over the floor in the bathroom while having a shower, no hooks in the bathroom to hang towels or clothes and the toilet roll got wet while showering. The room was also very poorly lit with a few weak down lights and nothing bedside. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help answer some of our queries, and the decor was clean and new. The hotel is not that easy to find, seemingly down a small alley off another alley, so look out for the lit-up name on the side of the building. The hotel is great for a short stay, but not recommended for a longer stay with luggage.

First Two Day stay in room A905. The room design is not good. Coz the bathtub is just beside the bed. How can I use it? Last Two stay in room B1005. The room design become better. The bathtub back to the washroom and I finally can enjoy it! But unfortunately, I think the person who tidy the room forgot to close the refrigerator door. So when I weak up the next day morning. I find out a lot of water on the floor and make all my belongings get wet, including my camera bag........... >.< I use lots of time to dry my bag.......... Hope the next time, the staff can pay attention for the room facilities.

Beautiful hotel with great design
Though it may take a little time to find this hotel as it's tucked away amid various restaurants and shops, it does give a sense of welcome when you step through its doors. The staff are friendly and readily helped when there's a problem. Be it connecting to the wifi, asking for directions or simply just to open a beer bottle, they have a positive attitude. He design of the lobby is almost out of the set- simply spectacular. I booked a superior double room, despite being a tat bit small, its industrial style design does appeal to me. I suppose the suites would be even more spectacular with its themed design. Overall a great experience staying at Hotel the Designer Jongno, I'll also consider staying there again in future!

Quaint hotel, one block from Insadong
Stayed 4 nights, switched rooms after 2 nights because the first room was too small for 2 people. Friendly hot"else staff, even had complementary umbrellas for us to use. Hotel is in a good location, but it is a bit difficult to find, because it is located in a back alley, and cannot be seen from the main streets. However, they have cards for the taxi drivers and it worked fine for us. Hotel has great access to Insadong shopping areas, subway and Seoul station. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops nearby as well. The rooms are creative, although a bit small. For a single traveler, it would be comfortable. Rooms could use some more functional features, like hooks for towels, shelves to place toiletries and personal items. I enjoyed my stay, and would stay again.

The hygiene of the room is terribly bad. We found some hairs and dirt on the bathroom and cushion respectively. The light at the corridor was going on and off all the time. The device were not workable.

Good location, fun concept, but poorly executed
For the price we paid, we thought it might be a good idea to stay somewhere fun like Hotel the Designers. I think we got what we paid for. We stayed in a room with a teepee, a bicycle under the sink, and a jungle themed shower, which was all fun, I suppose, but it wasn't clean (dusty, and found a soap wrapper left behind), poorly maintained (floor was cracking), and service wasn't very friendly. I appreciated the Jongo location, but only because it's close to lots of places... The hotel in the alleyway and the general demographic of the area (ahjussi's/old men in their 50-60s) left much to be desired.

Very well located near Jongno3 subway interchange station, in an area with lotsa eateries, next to Cheonggyechong Stream (no view of it though) and walking distance to Insadong and Changdeokgung Palace. Front desk were helpful and pleasant. Bad: 1) Entrance to hotel is through a dark back alley. 2) Bathroom lights shut off by itself after sometime and when asked hotel staff could not explain. I think bathroom lights run on timer. 3) Returned 1 evening to find a bag of rubbish and 2 empty tea bag wrappers on da table (not my doing!). 4) Soiled bed sheets and towels. 5) No shower screen/curtains so da whole bathroom gets wet. 6) No hooks to hang anything, not even a bath towel or hand towel, in da bathroom. 7) Dust in plain sight everywhere. It is a cheaper hotel by Seoul standards so I got what I paid for. Stay elsewhere if u can afford.

Location of the hotel was not bad as walking distance to where we wanted to go...Myeondong and Insadong as well as to the public transportation(metro) Hotel entrance was in a small alley with many mom-pop eateries and we usually looked up to guide us back to the hotel as the signs to the hotel were hardly seen.Toiletries/amenities were fine, only got two teabags entire stay of 5 days there, one free choice of either grape or orange juice each day and complimentary water bottles. The room was cleaned everyday; problem of no desk drawers or shelvings, but real difficulty was there was no shower curtain to avoid splash from rainshower head attached to the ceiling so water all over the floor becoming slippery to step on unless person prefers tub baths all the time.Nice warm seat on commode was a surprise. Might consider staying again...

the room is much more smaller than shown on the picture, and the pictures are a bit misleading as they keep on emphasized on the suite room type. stayed for 2 nights and nobody tidied up the room at all.overall very disappointed with this hotel cause there are more better hotel nearby with more competitive price.

Not a hotel I would return to.
The location is pretty decent (subway stations are about a 5-10min walk away), and the rooms are nicely furnished. However, I would not return to this hotel. 1. Hotel staff are extremely unhelpful, with no initiative whatsoever. Requests for help are met with confused looks and reluctance. Eg. If you ask for a taxi, they will say they cannot call one for you because the taxis would not know how to get to the hotel. They will instead ask you to walk to the main road to hail one. Even on our last day when we had heavy luggage, and needed one at 6am, it was only after a lot of cajoling that they agreed to call one for us! Also, don't bother asking them where to find certain shops/restaurants because they'll just say they don't know (you're better off googling on your phone), and don't expect any help with your luggage (whether bringing them to/from the rooms, or lifting them in/out of taxis). 2. The bathrooms are poorly designed - no separate sunken floor area for the shower/bathtub. This was the case for both the standard room and suite we stayed in. This means that every time you shower, the entire bathroom floor gets flooded. 3. Also, the mattresses are extremely hard and uncomfortable. While the prices are decent, there are definitely better alternative hotels to choose from. Will certainly not return to this one.

Good Location staff need improvement
This hotel has a great location close to subwaystations and shopping. Many restaurants close by, but mainly coffeeshops and not-so-fancy-places. Some of the staff were ignorant and could not help us. We met one man who was very helpful. Our room (702) was very small, had no hangers whatsoever and no decorations. It did not look at all like the pictures of the rooms on the internet. The bathroom had a nice rainforestshower but no showercurtain which made the whole bathroom wet when taking a shower. The heating was controlled by the TV remote which only had signs in korean. A translation in the hotelinfo pack would have been helpful. The hotelentrance is on a backstreet and very small. Overall a nice hotel with great location but so overdesigned that it lacks some practical aspects.
