For the budget traveller, this hotel is fine - decent rooms and excellent air-conditioning. However, it's out in the city suburbs surrounded by huge poor grotty drab depressing apartment blocks. Located on a major busy road so you'll need earplugs to block out traffic noise as well as the never-ending barking of numerous stray dogs. No restaurant anywhere nearby. Bus stop right outside; nearest underground metro 15 minutes' walk. Around the tube station there are local eateries and a large supermarket. The underground gets you to city centre in about 20 minutes.
Beware: Google Maps has multiple incorrect markers for this hotel, including the marked location of the actual street building number. Search for this entry to get the correct location "Hotel City Bucureşti" (detailed entry: 'Drumul Taberei, 46 Bulevardul Timişoara, București, Romania')

"Use it only if you need to have a place to sleep in Bucharest!"
The hotel is good if you want to just have a place to sleep. First of all, it's a two star hotel, not three star, like stated on Expedia. The room is very basic. The bathroom needs some repairs to take away the rust from the shower cabin and to fix the leak that happens every time you take a shower.
In our room the window was very little and very high, so the room was very dark.
The cleaning ladies are very noisy. They keep talking to each other on the hallways, which have an awful echo. You must be very tired to be able to sleep after 09.00 am, when they come around. They don't clean your room unless you ask them to and you leave them your key. They don't change your sheets or towels, they just fix them and take away your trash.
Breakfast is made of some items put together on a plate and served to you with coffee by a nice lady. Don't hope for breakfast buffet, it's not the case! The stuff speaks very basic English.
The hotel is very well located in the Militari neighbourhood of Bucharest, very close to the bus and subway stops. There is a huge Cora supermarket nearby and one of the big Bucharest malls 10 minutes away.
You get charged at the beginning of your stay. There are always random people in the lobby, just hanging out in there. In one of the evenings one lady was doing the manicure of a policeman in the lobby, which is quite an odd image to come upon in your hotel lobby.
Overall, the hotel is better than a hostel and alright for a two star hotel.

I booked into this hotel for 10 nights whilst I was in Bucharest on business. I checked in early which was a good sign and paid in Euros as the price was €300. I'm given a box to sleep in, very tiny indeed. I didn't have time to say anything as I had meetings. Anyway, back to hotel late and I'm tired, I get 3 bottles of water and the receptionist had a seriously bad attitude as if it was more trouble than it worth for him to take my money. Morning after i'm told they don't take Euros and I have to pay in Lei. OK give me my €300 back and i'll get it changed, that took a lot of convincing. Back at night the miserable receptionist is on duty and shout at the top of his voice as soon as I walk in "You haven't paid your bill" Totally amazed how rude the staff are here. Day after I ask for a room upgrade 25 lei a night, I say ok i'll do it in the morning, morning after price went upto 135 lei a night I said forget it.
Overall this has to be one of the worst hotels I've stayed in, the staff are so miserable and so angry all the time.
