Overpriced

Posted 20-Jul-2014
Pros: Location
Cons: TRAINING of front desk staff
A disinterested front desk staff, an inexperienced concierge, and they erroneously assigned my room to another guest, who would have entered my room but for the security lock I had on the door. For the price and the hype, I was seriously underwhelmed. Would not stay here again.

My husband and I have stayed at other W properties and thought the lighting in this hotel was really dark (in the lobby/elevators/hallways. Also, we were surprised that the furnishings in the room looked a little worn and shabby (not sure how long this property has been open or the conditions of other rooms). These were merely observations and opinions, they are not meant to reflect negatively on the hotel as a whole. The staff were all very nice and helpful and the beds were comfortable. Overall we were happy with our stay.

Everything is an additional charge

Posted 07-Jul-2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Everything about the price, service, and room.
Location: Plenty to do in the city of Seattle.
I stay in the area several times each year, and the business model at the W Seattle is much different than other area hotels. Rather than including things like parking and ancillary charges in the cost of the room, this hotel is all about charging extra for every little thing. Several additional taxes were even added to my room charge that were evidently not covered in my payment to the website. The view from a "corner room" was of the parking garage next door. Internet was an additional charge, as was anything else I requested from the concierge. The room itself was sub-par for the area. In addition to hidden costs, the hotel service was wanting throughout the weekend. There were no wait staff available in the restaurant, so I seated myself and still didn't see any staff for over 15 minutes (this was during a busy meal time and there were several other customers in the restaurant). The valet was constantly on his cell phone making personal calls, and didn't look like he even worked for the hotel. I ended up loading and unloading my own bags before anyone from the hotel even raised a finger. Overall, you will do better at any of the other hotels in the area. The W Seattle will make up the costs by over-charging for everything else.

Within Walking Distance to Attractions

Posted 05-Jul-2014
Pros: I loved the location. I stayed here 2 years ago and loved how it was close to everything.
Location: There's the famous fish throwing and all the shops, food and hand made goods stalls and restaurants at Pike's Market. Seattle Center and the Aquarium.
The hotel is easily to get to via car, (Interstate 5 is only a few blocks away) or public transportation (the Translink from the airport stops two blocks away) It is located a few blocks from Pike's Market and about a mile from the Space Needle. Great friendly staff at the hotel from the front desk to valet and the room cleaning maid. The only drawback for me was that the hotel didn't have a coffee maker in the room. I need my hot water. But with all the Starbucks and cafes around, I guess it makes sense not to provide one for the guests.

Great hotel with friendly staff

Posted 02-Jul-2014
Pros: Dog friendly, close to the sites
Cons: Wish there was coffee in the rom. They have coffee in the lobby.
Location: Pike Street Market, Aquarium, Pioneer Square, about 1 mile from the Space Needle. My nephew loved the hotdog cart about 2 blocks from the hotel
Great hotel in the heart of downtown. Quick walk to Pike Street Market and Pioneer Square. They take dogs as well, and we brought ours. They even took him out for a walk when we were out for several hours one day. On the down side, it was hard finding decent sit down breakfast spots at a reasonable price. Lots of places for grab and go, or cafes (there's a french bakery one block down with the BEST sticky buns ever); hotel breakfast was tastey but very expensive.

Great location

Posted 27-Jun-2014
Pros: I liked location and room.
Cons: As courtesy to guests, hotel should have no charge for room wifi and reduced parking garage fee. They seem like hidden costs to room rate.
Location: Ferry to Bainbridge Island, Seattle Aquarium, Pikes Place Market, shopping, great restaurants are within walking distance.
Nice hotel with great staff and accommodations. Great location within walking distance to Pikes Place Market, highly rated restaurants, Pine Street and Belltown shopping, and monorail station to Seattle Center. If you have a car, beware of $54/day parking charge. Also, there is a $14.95/day charge for room wifi. Ground floor restaurant is active and crowded Sunday thru Wednesday.

Vacation

Posted 23-Jun-2014
The W was perfect for our vacation to Seattle. It was in a great central location (but be ready for some walks up from the waterfront), and the rooms were really nice. Most importantly, the staff was excellent and helped with anything that we could possibly need.
