“Needs a handyman to fix things up”
Quaint hotel in a good location for walking about Inverness. Needs TLC. Door handle broken so you need two hands to unlock room; one hand holds handle up so you can get key into lock with other hand. Toilet paper holder broken, so roll keeps falling on floor. Shower tap required extreme force in order to turn on and adjust flow/heat. Difficult to shut off water off. Fan in bathroom doesn't work, so it fills with condensation. Narrow fire doors make it difficult to move luggage to and from room.
“wouldn't go back”
NEVER, EVER stay or suggest anyone should stay in the Columba Hotel. It would be better to go to St Vincent de Paul. Easy to find, but then you are really sorry. Poor service, poor plumbing (in spite of being shown how to flush the toilet, success remained elusive), difficult room & poor food.
“Very Good Hotel”
Very Good Hotel: Comfortable rooms, great location, good value for money. Bistro meals excellent.
“Eden Court accessible”
Our stay at the Columba was most enjoyable. The staff very courteous. The room lovely and warm and comfortable. Breakfast was freshly made with a great variety. We would definitely return here. The only down side of this hotel is it's lack of parking at the Hotel itself. However there is a carpark within easy walking distance but you must remember to put money in the meter at 8am!
“Columba Hotel, 1 night, March 2011”
The location and the service from staff were both very good. It is unfortunate that the rooms are so small and in need of updating. There was chipping paint on the windows, the room looked dingy, and the bathroom was very basic and uncomfortable. The most important thing to note for anyone considering this hotel, is that you cannot sleep here comfortably because of the paper thin walls and the constant sounds. We could clearly hear regularly toned conversations from the rooms around us and the floor below. We will not stay here again - great location, but no sleep!
“Terrible run down hotel and staff unhelpful”
The hotel did look as if it was in a good location however staff were extremely unhelpful-was given a double room despite booking a twin room, when I requested to change, I was told it was my fault and should deal with it. Room was tiny, Rust in bath. Requested an extra pillow as only had one in the room, a big deal was made to get my another pillow when that should be provded in the room. Breakfast was average-zero vegetarian options. Would not recommend staying here. Stayed in the Royal Highland Hotel at Inverness Station days later which was like heaven in comparision.
“Affordable comfort in good location”
Nice hotel on the river Ness. Friendly staff. Room slightly small, but had everything you need. Close to everything - the town centre, walk from bus or train station, tour to Loch Ness (do the Jacobite tour it was excellent!). Also near supermarket, launderette, and good restaurants.
“4 stars? Really?”
Don't get me wrong, the hotel was decent but it certainly wasn't 4 stars as advertised. I actually got to my destination a day early and had to stay at the Best Western right next door, where they had a gym, pool and free internet all of which the Columbia did not. Columbia's rates however were better and they did have free breakfast but that's about it. My room was fine, if not a bit small with a broken window which made it impossible to close. A fair hotel to be sure, but I'm still stumped as to why it's advertised as a 4 star hotel...
“A good value stopover”
We stayed here for one night in January. It was remarkably good value for money and included a good breakfast. Although just a little jaded the hotel was comfortable, well situated and provided free parking nearby. The meal we had in the bar whilst being nothing special was of a reasonable standard and price.
“A good hotel”
A good, value for money hotel, ideally located in central Inverness
