Lovely relaxing hotel with excellent food. Very large room which was perfect with our toddler so lots of room for the cot. Staff were all very friendly and keen to help with any request.

Beachside hotel with lovely sea views.

Posted 24-May-2014
Pros: Location overlooking the beach with views out to sea. Quiet location.
Cons: Pool area disappointing.Untidy with dishes lying on tables next to the pool. Had to help ourselves to pool towels as no staff on the desk.
Location: Wonderfull beach to walk along. Golf if you want it. Fort George is worth a visit.
We were here for one night only and were allocated a huge twin room overlooking the front of the hotel. The bathroom was large but the shower was small with a wonky door and could do with being refurbished. The beds were great and the room had everything you would expect in a 4 star hotel. The pool area was disappointing. The facilities were there but the service was lacking and could have been cleaner. We had read the reviews of the food which were not great but we couldn't be bothered going elsewhere so we had dinner in the conservatory area over looking the sea. The service was great ,the steaks good and desserts lovely so we had no issues. Breakfast was Ok but not special. Overall a good experience but would rate the hotel a 4 star - just.

Loverly view from our bedroom

Posted 23-May-2014
Pros: The comfort, and being made to feel at home
Cons: Putting a light over the bathroom mirror to see properly when shaving
Location: The location is perfect, walking down the front getting all that fresh sea air.
Satisfying stay, with lovely frendly and helpful staff who were always cheerful, and that includes the young lass who cleaned the bedrooms,(they rarely get a mention). Would stay there again anytime.

Beautiful hotel, beautiful location!

We had a third floor, corner room with a bay window, beautiful views. The room was spacious with a nice bathroom. We used the pool and hot tub to relax after days of travelling. We were very happy to have filtered coffee for breakfast! We had two breakfasts and a dinner here, the food was good! I would be delighted to stay here again.

Nice location and views. Room comfortable but dark

Posted 30-Aug-2013
Pros: The spa was nice and the staff there very helpful times when no one was about and I think at lease one staff members ought to be in attendance.
Cons: Quite a lot! Start with a good course on dining room staff training emphasisi attitude toward the client
Location: Golf and nice walks, museum.
We enjoyed the spa but our experience in the dining room was awful. Very poor service and mediocre food. Waiting staff appeared to have a sloppy attitude and no attention at our table. We tried to wave down a waitress and she just waved back at us and walked away. We will probably not go back. Talked to two other families with similar experiences. Not good.

Veryrelaxing break

Pros: The staff were very welcoming and Nairn appears to have a micro-climate as it was mild and calm throughout the weekend.
Cons: Nothing springs to mind
Location: Lovely location, beautiful views on the sea-side of the hotel, pleasant walk along the seafront path to the small harbour and cafes.
We had a really relaxing stay in the Golfview. The staff were friendly even when very busy and the room we had was great with lovely viewsout to Invergordon.

Poor value, no longer 4* standard

Posted 01-Apr-2012
Pros: They can't mess up the view
Cons: Service (dreadful), cleanliness, food
Location: Right on beach and next to championship golf course - but won't make up for terrible experience
No longer even close to 4* hotel. Have stayed at the Golf View for forty years but not in last few - this was our first visit since taken over and we are very sad it is so poor. General standard of cleanliness poor, our bathroom floor was filthy, shower tiles dirty and shower door wouldn't close. Food dreadful and not value for money. Waldorf salad starter: handful of pre-bagged salad leaves, two tiny pieces celery, 1 walnut broken in tiny bits, a quarter of an apple thin sliced, 1 cherry tomato - £6.95. Rack of lamb: no rack, instead 2 x 3cm chunk of loin, over-cooked, tough, handful cherry tomatoes, 1 flat mushroom(watery), and side salad instead of chips at my request ( served in a sugar bowl) - £19.00+ Ordered white wine but not chilled. Had to wait so long for table at breakfast, a fellow guest pointed out we were waiting. Robes for leisure club, which used to be in every room, cost £7.50 each to 'hire'. No wi-fi for entire stay (2 nights). Additional charge for paying by credit card. Discussed at length with only available member of management staff prior to leaving, and provided written feedback. Hope they act on info and improve. Happy to pay for good quality hotel and food - suggest they sort it out and actually provide a 4* service. At present, cost-cutting is evident and muddled marketing is pulling this once-beautiful hotel down. American travellers especially should be aware this is no longer the standard it used to be, and then some.
