“Borders Break”

An excellent few days, hotel was of a very good standard with very attentive & courteous staff. There waa a minor problem with the pool but did not cause any great inconvenience. The golf course is quite challenging but as with many new resort type courses there is a fair distance between some holes resulting in rounds of in excess of 4 hours. We had a very comfortable room on the same level as the reception /dining room which obviously was very convenient. Rates /Prices were comparable with a 4 star establishment.

extremely efficient staff, well appointed spacious room, beautiful views over golf course and hills, evening menu although no doubt substantial lacked flair and temptation to experience something new so dined out in melrose. Breakfast excellent choice and well presented, overall met our expectations

“A lovely Easter weekend!”

Had a wonderfully romantic weekend at the MacDonald in Cardrona. A lovely hotel, with helpful staff in a beautiful location! We highly recommend the walk into Peebles along the old railway line, very tranquil! Well done all involved!

“Great hotel”

Although we had booked at short notice we had high expectations and these were met or exceeded. The only disappointment was that the golf course was booked out for a corporate event - but there are other good courses nearby.

“Great night away.”

We checked in and had no problems at all. The Hotel was very quiet that night and we were the only guests in the bar, this meant we were well looked after. There was a function going on but noise in the general area was minimal. The food was very good with a good variety of options and was well presented. The room was spacious. It had a compact bathroom which contained a bath and a large shower, a large bed and an area to relax with a small sofa. TV Channel selection was poor but as we didn't spend long it didn't bother us. Forgot our swimming stuff so couldn't make use of the leisure facilities that were included in the price. Didn't make it up for breakfast so can't comment on that.

“A gem in the Scottish Borders”

The Cardrona is set in the beautiful Tweed valley with the river running nearby. Ideal for golfers, walkers or those who just wish to unwind by the pool. Quality of the food is good and the staff are friendly and helpful

“Our trip to Peebles”

Had a very enjoyable couple of days in the McDonald Cardrona Hotel, very nice room and it was immaculate, the shower was terrific and the outlook fantastic as it overlooked the golf course. Only thing that went wrong was that the kitchen was seemingly under challenging circumstances on the Friday and we waited 1.5hrs for our evening meal in the lounge and when it came it was cold, this was hastily remedied and what we got was lovely. I must admit on Friday the hotel was extremely busy with 140 golfers from a competition in a separate function suite but that should not really affect a hotel of this size. That apart we were very well looked by the duty manager on the Saturday night and had a beautiful meal in the restaraunt, breakfast on both mornings was also very nice with a wide choice of cold buffet and full scottish breakfast available. The hotel facilities are excellent apart from the steam room which was out of order. We will return to this hotel.

“Noisy fire doors”

We had a lovely stay in this hotel however our experience was ruined by the very noisy fire doors in the corridors. They would continually wake me up from around 4.30am onwards each morning. I mentioned to the trainee receptionist on booking out and she didn't seem interested sadly or she was unsure how to handle the complaint. I would recommend staying in this beautiful hotel with amazing scenery however would recommend the fire doors closing apparatus is examined.

“great nites stay”

booked for overnight stay for husbands bday with another couple. room was clean and tidy and staff were friendly. the breakfast the next morning was great, large selection of fruits, bread and cereals, cakes etc plus made to order breakfast. thoroughly enjoyed. took a taxi into peebles for dinner which was nice went to the tontine hotel which i would also recommend staff very helpful in recommeding good walks near by also
