This is a GREAT hotel. We have stayed here over the years as they are dog friendly, we come into town for a Pet Expo. This trip we had both of our Boxers with us. The hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating.
"Mostly Good. Should not advertise free breakfast."
Generally clean and tidy. Understaffed. The desk clerk had to leave the front desk constantly to deal with room issues. Just ONE staff person on duty at a time to deal with everything. Made check-in and out slow.
Very quiet. Reasonable price. Breakfast was a JOKE. Coffee, granola bars, prepackaged muffins, and apples. That's it. No juice, milk or anything else. Not even toast.
I was super excited when I planned this trip for me and my daughter. We reside in Chicago and were in the area for the US Olympic Gymnastic trials at the Sears Arena. After some research I found this hotel, and since it offered everything I was looking for ( shuttle to Sears Arena, kitchenette, and continental breakfast) I booked it. Everything was smooth sailing until I reached the hotel and discovered that the shuttle is not available on the weekends! I was going to use this as our transportation to and from the arena!. This was not information provided anywhere on the website.
The front desk assured me that the arena is only about five minutes away and would not cost much to take a cab. She then provided me with a business card of a livery service. I called the number they arrived promptly and took us to the arena. However it turned out to be a $13 ride to drive 5minutes away! After being picked up from the arena the driver took me to the incorrect hotel location. After getting taken to the correct location my cc declined the $35 cab fare. I was mortified I never expected to spend that kind of money on one cab ride.
After explaining the situation to the desk manager she was happy to pay for the ride. I thanked her tremendously for the generosity since I was put out by this unforeseen expense.
No more than 10min I received a call from the front desk attendant saying that after speaking with her supervisor. We would need to reimburse them the cost of the cab.
The staff was very nice. We did have a couple odd encounters. On night 2 somebody knocked at the door at 11pm when we were sleeping with w 2 little kids. The maintaince guys was dropping a fridge off that we didn't ask for. This turned into a 10 minute conversation about how we didn't ask for it. Language barrier. Also- no cookies at all!!!
The place was decent and very close to the airport and free-ways and shopping. The staff was very friendly and helping with whatever questions we had and directions we needed. The hotels not having a swimming pool is a disappointment.
The hotel was much more kept up than the 'high end name' hotel our convention was in. The prices of the rooms at the 'high end name' hotel were the same IF you got the reduced rates for the convention, as at the Extended Stay America AND we got a kitchen too! Bottom line Extended Stay America is a better deal.
The hotel is like any other hilton garden inn but it does a great job in the food and beverage area. Room was clean. Only slightly annoying item was the satellite TV had a long delay switching channels
