Pros: Location
Location: Easy access to the national parks, penisula and Reykjavik.
A great location north of Reykjavik. Beautiful setting and love the hot tub sitting in the hill. The whole hotel has a rustic feel. The food was five star

Best nights in Iceland

Posted 02-Jan-2014 on Hotels.com
Stayed at four different hotels in Iceland and this one is the best. Room had a loft with bed. TV and couch downstairs. Lots of choices for breakfast. Dinner was very expensive for small portions and did not have many choices. They have a wake up service in case the northern lights appear, although we didn't see them for the 6 nights in iceland. Hot tub was too hot to use. Overall, amenities and comfort make this a very nice hotel. No gas stations or restaurants nearby.

Lovely, quirky with fab views

Posted 16-Dec-2013
Pros: The remoteness, the ambience and the staff.
Cons: For the price, it would have been nice to have individual shampoos / shower gels / etc, rather than a bottle stuck on the wall.
Location: Hiking up to the waterfall was very scenic and a good walk.
I was, initially, reluctant to book, as I felt it was expensive compared to the city centre hotels. However, having stayed there, I understand now. It is a lovely, relaxing environment with great views. Our few days were spent having a drink in the lounge, looking out over the bay. Relaxing in the hot tub, looking out over the bay. Reading in our room, looking out over the bay. As we were doing a lot of walking during the day, it was a lovely place to return to. The breakfast was fine. Spoiled a little by some very "grabby" guests who basically, cleared out the buffet and then sat on top of us at the table we had chosen! But that's not the hotel's fault. The food in the evening was beautifully cooked and really delicious. We chose it because there was a wake up call if the Northern Lights were visible. Unfortunately, it was too cloudy. Guess we'll just have to go back again!

Cool Hotel

This is a neat place. Extremely expensive but it seems like everything in Iceland is. It's a very cozy place to relax. We rented a car and explored the different sites, went on a hike, and wished we had one more day. You can sign up for a wake up call when the northern lights are showing.

The view is incredible

Posted 29-Mar-2013 on Hotels.com
The service was friendly and the breakfast has a big selection. The restaurant was quite expensive but was good food. The surroundings and view make up for any shortcomings however. It took us a couple of days to get in sync with the place. It is very remote, but it's just so picturesque and quiet you can't help but find yourself relaxing. Going for a jog or walk first thing in the fresh clean air, morning, then relaxing in the hottub then having breakfast is a fantastic way to start the day.

Northern lights

Excellent hotel. Isolated, beautiful, especially as we saw the best sighting of the northern lights Icelanders tell us they have seen. Northerns lights on show all night, my dream come true , magic

Hotel Glymur - the best in Iceland!

Posted 20-Sep-2011 on Hotels.com
Stayed there the very last night after touring Iceland for two weeks. The hotel is absolutely charming with 24 hr impacable and very personable service, the split level suites are extremely well organized and functional and you can't beat the view from rooms and hot tubs. The food is delicious as well. Although we stayed at some very nice places, this one was absolutely the best on all counts!

Hotel Glymur

A wonderful place to stay while exploring Iceland. The Hotel staff is superb and expceptionally helpful. I spent a total of four nights and at the end of my stay, felt as if I was a member of the family. The staff even took the time late one night to call me to come outside to watch the northern lights - what a treat!
