"Wonderful hotel with old-world amenities"
The hotel is about 7 miles from Familia Sagrada and Las Ramblas area where most of the action seems to be. It is a pleasing area, nonetheless. The hotel is quite small with about 4 suites on each of 4 floors. The elevator is tiny but the suites are ample enough for 2-3 people. The staff is kind, hospitable, receptive, helpful, friendly and accommodating to a fault.I took a photo of the amenities in the room because I couldn't belief it. A sewing kit, shampoo, conditioner, tissue packet, compress, two toothbrush and toothpaste packets, a comb, deoderant pack, shower gel, lotion, razor packets and shaving gel. There were probably more items but I can't remember them all. A delicious breakfast of espresso, coffee, tea, fresh juice, pastries, eggs, toast, sausage, yogurt and cereals were prepared by a friendly staff and breakfast was served in a quiet, quaint, charming room. My husband lost his camera (later recovered) in a taxi and the desk clerk was more than helpful calling as many taxi services as she could while attempting to track it. Hotel Rekord was a wonderful stay that made us feel right at home. My only comment concerned air conditioning during the evenings. It could have been better but I have heard that most hotels in Europe don't appreciate "cold" air quite as much as Americans. Water pressure in the shower was terrific as was personal attention to our every request. The price was more than reasonable. The distance from the center of town was about $8 -10 euro.
