The hotel was very satisfactory and clean. Staff was friendly, room was quiet and I slept very well, better than at home! If you want a reasonably central location and a restful sleep, this hotel is for you.

APA Resort is a nice looking hotel. It has a large lobby and a hot bath for the public. I did not go in the hot bath so I can't tell you what it's like.
The room and rug were clean but a little dated. The room was small. This is not unusual in Japan, especially in this price range. ( I rented the least expensive standard room). There was an odd arrangement for the sink and shower. The faucet swung back and forth between the sink in the tub.
The air conditioner seems to be controlled by fan speed only. I could not find any temperature controls. It was comfortable anyway.
The staff could not have been nicer. English was a little difficult for them but they tried very hard to be helpful. Fortunately I speak enough Japanese to get by.
The ride to the hotel was expensive. About $30 US by taxi. Fortunately, there are two buses that stop regularly near the hotel. It costs about $2.50 to travel one way to the Sapporo rail station which is in the middle of town.
Towns in Japan seem to wake up around 11 o'clock so you will have to look for breakfast in the hotel or at a McDonald's which is about a city block away.
Internet was supposed to be included in the hotel room. There was a wire provided, but no Internet. Fortunately there is a free WiFi hotspot downstairs near the reception desk. I was able to check my e-mails. This was good enough for me because I came to see Japan, not surf the Internet.
There is a coin laundry facility downstairs off the lobby.

The hotel is located 5 minutes from Susukino bus station and upon arriving at New Chitose airport, we took the Chuo Bus to the airport which took about 80 minutes. The bus stops right at the Toyoko Inn, which is right next to Susukino bus station. You will see the hotel from afar, and is about a 5 minute walk. You will be using the same bus stop when leaving to the airport; there is also a big sign on top of a sushi restaurant stating Bus to New Chitose.
The hotel itself is great! Staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are rather big for a Japanese hotel and with the cheap rates, it's a steal! I paid the exact price in Osaka for a room half the size of this ANA hotel.
The location is what makes the hotel shine, there are other hotels closer to Susukino, but i didn't mind the 5 minute walk. There are many things to do in Sapporo. The Norbesa is right across the street and we were able to ride the ferris wheel at night, which had great views of the city. The Ramen Alley is about a 10 minute walk, and there Tanukoji (spelling?) Shopping arcade is about 10 minutes away. Overall the hotel is situated in a location where you can access everything by foot.
