“Not Impressed”

When I arrived at the hotel I booked, we were left waiting and then told us that there was a technical problem with our room, therefore they arranged a taxi to go to another hotel of the chain. The room we were put into had damp stains on the wall facing the bed, they weren't overnight ones, very old. We asked for a new room, which was given but lacked wall edecorations, quite dull. The service was OK, but the hotel needs a "facelift". Wouldn't go back to a Golden Tulip in Sao Paulo.

“Not impressed”

Hotel staff does not seem prepared to handle business traveler needs. Staff coud/would not help locate a store to buy a replacement AC adapter for a notebook

“Very good well-priced hotel in a handy location”

The staff at reception were very helpful regarding check-out times, airport transfers and maps. Good English too which was much appreciated by a weary traveler. The room was comfortable with windows which opened (always a nice touch). The walls were a bit on the thin side - I could hear the TV in the next room - which could be annoying if you had noisy neighbours... Breakfast was comprehensive. The gym and pool were both adequate. Good safe neighbourhood on the fringe of the fancy shopping area - 15 min walk - with a 24 hour restaurant on the corner and a supermarket nearby. Nothing fancy but a good hotel in a good location.

Getting around

The subway system is limited but efficient and safe. Taxis are easy to catch and recommended at night especially if you're by yourself.

“Central, friendly, spacious and clean. What else would you want?”

The Hotel is located in a nice neighbourhood only a 10 minute walk from great shopping and dinning in the Ave. Augusta area in Jardins. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The 'standard suite' was very clean and spacious and breakfast was acceptable. Only improvements would be free internet and better quality/more towels. But next time in SP I would definitely stay again.

“Very good hotel.”

A very good hotel. The room was very good and the hotel staff were also very good! The breakfast ends at 10:00 which I found a bit early, but that is as close to a complaint as I can get with this hotel. It is in a safe area of the city and again the staff were very good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Sao Paulo.

Area recommendations

Sao Paulo is a huge city and can be a bit dangerous if you are not in the righ areas of the city. Jardins, Vila Madelena, Vila Miriana are good areas to stay, as they tend to be safer.

“Good locaton”

The hotel is located in a quite zone and a walk distane to Oscar Freire, which helds many restaurants, bars and designer shopping stores. A pitty is that they do not include internet, you have to pay it for every 24 hours, as they dont have a rate for all the time you stay there.

“Smoke Heavy and”

Skip this hotel if you have any issue with smoke. You'll be bombarded with smoke when you enter the lobby, since the smoking bar/cafe is across from the front desk. While there are smoke free hotel rooms, you'll still walk through a handful of smokers every time you leave and enter the building. The rooms themselves are nice and clean with good layouts. The minibar markups were the smallest I've seen in a while. No $5 candy bars here. There is complimentary breakfast that thankfully is located in the back of the hotel away from the smoke filled front. It's the standard Brazilian selection of breads, cheeses, and juices with a few hot options. Lastly, review your bill carefully. They added charges for items we never purchased. This is more of a general Brazil suggestion as I was overcharged at half a dozen different places. They also changed the internet to $15r each day. It was free when we booked the hotel room, yet they refused to honor that. This bait and switch is completely unacceptable.
