“So friendly place to be...”
We've been there for 5 days. Extremely friendly place, fantastic staff. I'll be back there.
“Helpful and friendly”
The Boat House Hotel is a great place to stay. The staff is helpful and friendly, the area is great and close to everything, we would recommend this hotel to others. There are lots of restaurants near by and the beach is right out front of the hotel. The rooms are not the best we have ever had but in Santorini you don't spend a lot of time in your room. The hotel also has breakfast included.
“Wonderful hotel on the beach!”
This hotel is in a great location gorgeous sunrises. We loved the breakfast every morning, and the staff and owner were fantastic. The nearby resturants and taverns are a little loud at night but not so loud you can't fall asleep. The pool is a good size and very clean, there were not many chairs by the pool, but thankfully we didn't have any trouble finding a spot each day. The hotel is run on a solar water system, so take your shower in the afternoon and the water is great (morning showers are not warm). The showers are just a free standing shower curtain with a drain, but this is common in European hotels (don't put your clean clothes on the floor because they will get wet). The rooms on the second floor with a view are fantastic. The hotel has Air conditioning, which was great for siestas, and jet leg.
“Spiros & staff extremely helpful. Always willing to do anything for you.”
Spiros & staff extremely helpful. Always willing to do anything for you. Basic accommodation but cleaned & towels changed everyday. Spiros the owner picked us up from airport. Also took us to airport on departure, very nice guy. Would not accept payment. Right on beachfront with pool, beds and complimentary towels. Would return again.
“Good location”
Easy check-in and check-out. Great breakfast and was served at a good time (8-10a.m.). Pool was clean. Hotel was right on the beach strip with stores and restaurants. The room was small, nothing special, no TV but good if all you plan on doing there is sleeping. It was hard to take a shower as the water went everywhere on the floor. English speaking staff.
“warm welcome”
The owners were kind and welcoming. We were treated as if we were the first guests they'd ever had. They were genuinely interested in making our stay wonderful. I never once felt that we were one in an ,"assembly line of tourists' who arrive there, although they do stay booked. The breakfast buffet was full of variety. The hotel location was perfect. We were right on the beach, close to great resturants, and could easily plan day excursions to see the other parts of the island.
“Perfect for that early summer break: we'd go back”
This hotel really did live up to the previous reviews. Sea view room upper floor had fantastic views over the sea with blue skies. The owner/ host Spyros was brilliant at suggesting places to see and explore. His knowledge of the culture, history and environment enabled us to find several "off the main track" wonders. A CAA strike delayed the out flight by 2 days....we were so not disappointed and being only 12 mins from the airport meant we, with Spyros's and Aegean Airlines help, arranged revised flights. Tips: For a few days hire a small car as you won't use 5th gear much, everywhere the views demand slow progress. Visit a vineyard, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the quality of the local white wine. For a sunset to enjoy with quality yet inexpensive food visit Dimitri's at Ammoudi Bay, awesome. Pick up a Santorini free guide at the airport or any tourist office on the island- full of useful suggestions.
“A great hotel on the best beach in Santorini”
Spyros and Diane were great hosts and the hotel was clean with a nice pool and bar. Angie makes awesome mohitos.Breakfast is offered every morning. Lots of cafes, bars on the strip with lots of choices to eat. The Boat House Hotel is a good value for the money. I can't wait to return next year.
“Not what we expected”
Pros:Hotel is right on the beach;Friendly staff and family owned;Good Breakfast and restaurant Cons: 1.Solar powered water heating, that means there is only hot water from 10am-10pm which generally means cold showers in the morning. 2.No phone service in our room 3. The shower is so small, an average sized person can barely fit (and I am a size 0 and it was a messy disaster! After a shower there's water all over the place. The bathroom is very dim and when the lights were on it made a loud buzzing sound. 4. Laundry is only done every 3 days, that means the same bath towels, beach towels, and bath mat (yuck...due to the water). 5. Very thin walls, we could hear the owner's dog barking at all hours of the night. 6. Our "clock" on the AC remote was off, when we missed breakfast by 10 minutes because the time in the room was wrong, they did not offer us breakfast despite the fact that they were preparing for the next morning and we could see all the food out in the kitchen. 6. We called it "the cabin" and this seems pretty self-explanatory. But, note...there is tile flooring everywhere, throught the entire room. 7. We had requested a double bed, but we were in a room with 3 single bedss, they brought us a double mattress after the 1st night 8. Staff is not there overnight. This was a major concern since our phone didn't work. There are lots of hotels right on Kamari Beach. We would not stay here again.
“Loved the Boathouse.”
The service at the Boathouse hotel stood out above all other aspects. This is a family run hotel and the atmosphere is very laid back and welcoming. The hotel itself was beautiful. It wasn't the fanciest place we saw, but it's simple elegance is can't be beat. (My only minor complaint would be that the shower is tiny and it's easy to get water all over the bathroom, so keep that in mind if you like a large shower or bath tub.) The pool was beautiful. There is a bar by the pool. Breakfast is served in the lobby where there's wi-fi. And you can eat breakfast out by the pool very nice. Filling breakfast: eggs, bacon, fruit, toast, juice, coffee. The hotel is on the beach, where they have thatch umbrellas and chairs. The black stones can be uncomfortable but it is a neat experience and the water was perfect. I love Kamari. Their affiliated restaurant, Almira, was delicious and inexpensive. We ate at quite a few places and Almira was the best and least expensive. The boathouse was so good that we want to go back to Santorini because of the hotel, not because of Santorini. Well okay, Santorini was nice too.
