“Picturesque”

“Stunning views”

Mill House. Suites is a cool place. Be fit as there are lots of steps! Hotel staff carried our luggage, & attended to all requests. Very obliging. That's the good news. We stayed in late March/early April & found the suite (107) was damp. The bathroom smelt too. The heatpump was inefficient. Overall though I would love to go back in summer.

Area recommendations

Oia is beautiful, Firastefani & Fira too. Mistake to go before Easter as a lot of places not open as they were painting & renovating ready for the season. Weather was overcast & chilly too.

“Santorini's resort”

We were surprised that we were picked up from the airport because it was not mentioned when we booked the rooms. But it is of course a good surprise. The services were really good. We love how they serve the breakfast outside our room next to the pool with the best Santorini's view you can ever get. The rooms are interesting but it feels a bit stuffy in the toilets. They were very spacious and clean. We were disappointed that they did not have a heated pool. but it seems like no where in Santorini has one. I would recommend the hotel to anyone.

“Everything I wanted from Santorini”

A great first visit to Santorini, and being off-season, finding a good hotel on the caldera view side of the island that was open in October was not easy. Mill Houses upgraded us to a suite upon arrival that was actually like a small apartment with a direct view over the volcano (great sunsets). Breakfast was brought to us daily to be taken either inside our kitchenette or outside on the balcony. Located in Firostefani meant peace and quiet, and a 10-minute walk to the town of Thira (Fira). The hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful or considerate, and I was especially appreciative of having a strong young man carry our luggage down several steep staircases to the hotel, and back up at the end of our visit. The suite itself was romantic in it's white-washed, cave-like arrangement. Minor drawbacks were that the lighting in the bathroom was a little dim, and the small whirlpool on the deck did not work. Breakfast was of high quality and we were given good recommendations on where to eat out, again, with not much open in the off season. Great access to everything Santorini has to offer. And great views!

Area recommendations

This is the closest hotel "neighbourhood" to the main town of Thira (Fira), about a 10-minute walk away along cobblestone lanes (or via main road, but no shoulders). Very quiet and private in October. Fabulous views from most of the buildings along the caldera cliff side of the island. It would be difficult to access for anyone with mobility problems, which is true for most of the facilities on this side of the island.

Getting there

Ferries can get cancelled, and they do. Prepaid hotels may not be the best option if you are island-hopping. Flying to Santorini is via Athens, and then an approximately 15km cab ride to the central areas.

Getting around

Santorini is easily accessible with a rental car or ATV as you can visit the whole island in a day. Visit the lighthouse at one end, a winery or traditional village in the middle, and make sure to visit Oia at the other end. The beaches are lovely (Perissa) although we were in the off-season so they were abandoned. Take the boat tour to the volcano and hot springs, but bring an old swim suit. Hike the volcano. The best way to get around Santorini is by foot, at least in the central areas. One can walk along the cobble-stone lane ways along the caldera, but good footwear is required (avoid heels at all costs!). To reach the old port, one can take either the funicular, walk, or ride a donkey. I recommend riding the donkey up!

“wonderful”

Our stay at Millhouses was wonderful - we felt very relaxed and looked after by the staff who were helpful and friendly. Having a breakfast served to us whilst sitting overlooking the beautiful view was a real treat! There are 134 steps from the poolside rooms to the road, so this is not a place to stay if you have mobility problems. We would highly recommend this hotel.

“Beautiful Island and Hotel to Match!”

Mill Houses has it all - awesome views, great rooms and an excellent staff. From picking us up at the airport, dropping off at the port ( in our case ), advising on restaurants and tours, and champagne on arrival, the staff was unbelievably helpful. Breakfast was served to our deck each morning - fill out the menu the night before. The rooms are extremely unique ( Cave style ) and have the unbelievable Caldera view - be there for sunset. The deck and pool area are very nice. Stay here!

Area recommendations

Fira is easy to walk around. Imeroviglio is close enough to walk to. Oia will require transportation. All are required sights!

“Fantastic stay in Santorini”

This was a fantastic hotel. Very service oriented, clean, great views. You have to walk down some steps to get to it as it is on the side of a cliff on the edge of the caldera, but that is just like many other hotels in Thira. It wasn't really all that difficult. We arrived at 8:30a after our flight from Athens and they got us breakfast right away and into our room and it was great. From free wi-fi to getting us bottles of water when we ran out to the daily breakfast, it was a great stay. Would totally recommend it.
