“Very nice small hotel in Akrotiri”
This hotel is very convenient for some of the smaller more private beaches on Santorini. You can easily access the caldera beach on the other side of the road from the hotel and there is an excellent small taverna (Remezzo) there. It is a bit of a steep walk up from the beach but well worth it for the excellent swimming and views from this small cove. To access some of the other small beaches on the south end of the island, some form of transport is required but again these were very well worth it. So the location of the hotel is perfect for this end of the island. Unfortunately, the dig at Akrotiri is closed but may reopen for the 2012 season. The staff at the hotel were incredibly nice and very helpful. The pool is a good size and quiet. Breakfast was fairly standard but the best of its kind I had in Greece.
“good service, nice family”
when we first arrived to the hotel, there was a small mixup with our reservation, but in a professional manner giorgios sorted it out and gave us a lovely room with a great view. the rooms were meticulously clean with daily maid service and the beds were very comfortable [i love a firm mattress]. great Air Con, but the shower is a bit small, although we found that to be true everywhere in greece. the food at the hotel restaurant was very nice and drinks were well priced, all served promptly. the gardens around the pool are also beautiful and provide a relaxing ambiance. flora helped us to reserve a boat tour around the island as well. the pool was one of the cleanest i have ever seen, and the water was not overly chlorinated like some get. on our final day we were driven to the port. we had a great time, thanks hotel kalimera! ps, keep your eye out for little aris, the adorable and very sweet hotel pup.
“Relaxing stay at the Hotel Kalimera”
After three night in Thira we moved to the south of the Island. The owner came and picked us up in the minibus which was fantastic. We arrived well before the check in time but got the choice of three lovely rooms. The room had a double bed, a traditional second floor with two single beds with a view of the rest of the room and a small, but well kept little garden with a table and two chairs and a view of some vines. The bathroom was a very good size with a good shower. The breakfast was a choice of cereals, toast, cheese, ham, boiled eggs, cake, tea, etc. The pool was very attractive, quite large and clean, with steps leading into the shallow end of 1.6m. The owners were delightful and very helpful with any requests. Our only small disappiontment was the quality of the towels, they just didn't feel totally dry.a very In all, a very pleasant and peaceful hotel with delightful owners.
“Great service. Quiet location.”
My daughter and I stayed in August 2009. The service was impeccable - they really treat their guests like family! The bed mattresses were hard and the sheets were stiff, otherwise everything was clean and well cared for. There is a small refrigerator in the rooms, although no food or drinks allowed outside by the pool unless purchased from the Hotel. Breakfast was good, although same meal each day.
“Peaceful Getaway”
We stayed in Hotel Kalimera for two days and it was perfect. Our room was unique with a great view. We had a balcony that overlooked the Aegean Sea. The room was clean and air conditioned with lots of lighting throughout the room. The views from the hotel were picturesque. The pool was great with nice seats and a seating area that overlooked the pool. The pool was clean and the seats were cozy. The owners of the hotel were nice, helpful, and professional. They made our stay a wonderful experience. This family run hotel is well worth a visit. We will defiantly go back to this hotel. Thank you for the great stay.
“Would not stay again”
By looking at the photos on-line and thee rating of 3 stars, we expected a decent, clean and comfortable room. We also expected customer service, as we read the other reviews. This is not what we found at Hotel Kalimera. We booked a Queen room, however, when we arrived we were told that they had no more Queens available and that we needed to take the 2-twin bed room. The beds were hard as bricks and sheets were even worse. The next day we spoke to the manager again and threatened to leave if we were unable to change rooms. He put us in a Queen room, however, it was not much better than the first. The sheets, blankets and bath towels had stains all over them. The bathroom was dirty and smelled as if had never been cleaned. The bathroom sink was partially inside the tiny shower. I would not reccomend staying at this hotel. The condition is terrible.
“A nice hotel”
It is a very nice hotel, very nice homely rooms with a nice view and beautiful details. The rooms are olso very clean. Try the small private beach next to the hotel - it has beautiful surroundings and it is nice, that it feels small and private (this is a black beach). There are many fishes in the water and the area is cleaner than the larger beaches of Santorini. The hotel is also relatively close to the red beach and the white beach - here you will find small traditional fish-restaurants, with very fresh fish on the menu. Right next to the hotel there is a small traditional Santorini village. Some mornings we saw an old local man riding past our room (which had a balcony and a nice view) on a donkey. Note that it is a small family hotel run by a Greek family. The pool is a lot smaller than it looks on the pictures on this site, but the pool area and pool is VERY nice and beautifully built with beautiful details. The pool closes at nine a clock and the bar and restaurant closes at twelve a clock in the evening. The hotel is far from the big city but there is a bus that stops right in front of the hotel and takes you to the capital of Santorini – it departs every hour. There is free internet available in the reception which we very much enjoyed. The staff is accommodating and nice, but not vary familiar or overly friendly. It is not a party-hotel but a small private get-away that does not at all feel like a tourist center. It is a quiet and beautiful place.
“Terribile”
