“Not as good as expected”
Rooms are very small, old fashioned. The food is excellent.
“very satisfied”
My wife and I spent a week at this hotel in late October 2011. This is a very nice hotel. It is clean, well maintained and very secure. The staff was attentive and professional. Their English is limited, so brush up on your spanish. Front desk does speak English though. The food was good and you can eat at the restaurant, pool bar and grill or order room service. It isn't gourmet but is satisfactory. The rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. The air conditioning worked very well and they do have some english speaking channels on the television. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay and I will return on my next visit to Santo Domingo. Thanks to all managers and staff.
“Very welcoming...fabulous service!”
My adult daughter and I just spent a week in Santo Domingo, and our experience at the V Centenario was terrific. ~Foremost was the service - truly outstanding. Everyone was helpful, attentive, and friendly. The concierge went out of his way to help us plan enjoyable activities. ~The breakfast buffet was amazing - fresh fruit and baked goods, juices and coffee, cereals and yogurt, a lovely selection of cheeses and cold cuts, and a large variety of hot dishes along with eggs/omelettes made-to-order, prepared on the spot. ~The pool area is fabulous with a view of the sea, and the workout facility is one of the best I've ever used at a hotel with good equipment that works! ~The restaurant has a nice variety of dishes including Dominican specialties, seafood, pasta, and sandwiches. We ate there 3 times, and enjoyed everything! ~We felt it was worth the extra money to have an ocean view room. ~On a practical note, the free WiFi service was excellent and was available throughout the hotel.
“very good and excellent for price! Pleople with adecuate manners and overall is very good.”
good hotel , good price! excellent breakfast !
“so far so good”
never try barber shop , they will cheat you for breakfast they will count how many eggs or pan you took reception behavior is perfect
“Will go back any time I go to Sto Domingo”
Personnel goes out of its way to satisfy you. Only little problems, the food: Not all the plates on the room service are cooked with the same quality, seafood great but meat and poultry can be improved, and, even if we were at a suite they had some repairs one afternoon that were very annoying, Iguess it was our bad luck!! Finally the spa is not at the level of the hotel (good personnel but equipment is minimum). But overall, we were very staisfy with our stay.
“Decent upscale hotel in Santo Domingo”
I stayed here for a week in August. The hotel itself was quite nice by DR standards, but I was a little put off by the relatively high pricing on any miscellaneous items. There is a restaurant, a bar, and a coffee shop in different parts of the hotel, and I was expecting to pay somewhat less than 1st-world prices (which didn't happen). For a simple lunch plus a beer, USD 30-40 was easy (not including expected tips). The minibar was USD 5-8 for nearly anything (they even charged you to use the brew coffee machine in the room). An expresso downstairs was USD 7-8 (120 base + tax + other taxes + tip in change ~= 250 pesos). The pricing wasn't high for a hotel, it was just high for a hotel in the Dominican Republic. I have no complaints about the quality of the room or the hotel infrastructure (decent weight room, and I had two massages at the spa). The staff there was also extremely friendly.
“breadfast is real good”
The room was smeling like mould .that is my only complaing about this hotel
“I would stay here again”
The hotel staff was very friendly and eager to please. The breakfast buffet was great! We had a nice room with a nice view of the ocean and it also look over the pool. The only bad thing is they didn't have our room ready upon arrival and we had to wait about 30 mins but they did offer complimentary drinks to us while we waited.
“"Like the Ocean view"”
Nice Hotel and location, delicious breakfast. Found that check in process to be the only negative factor, my reservation was confirmed long time before I arrived. In the past I had experienced the same problem in other Hotels, they never find the reservation. It seems to be something usual upon arrival in Santo Domingo. Other than that everything was OK . Staff was courteous and location is a plus, right in front of the "Malecon"
