“Not impressed”

I will not return to this hotel. As we checked in, there were many people complaining so obviously this hotel has many problems.The hotel is old and needs updating. Our room had several dead bugs and smelled bad, the bthrm was dirty, no hot water. Staff ranged from ignoring the hotel guests, to being downright unfriendly/rude. Food was not good, and very repetitive. The hotel is not on the beach, you have to walk several minutes to get there. The walkway is old and dirty, the view from the walkway is more old/dirty buildings. The beach itself is nothing spectacular. But definitely the worst part was the groups of dominicans that took over the property every day that we were there. Each day a dfferent group arrived from local companies...presumably some kind of day retreat or R&R reward. Each group had around 200 or more people, they would arrive around 11am, completely take over the restaurant, the bar and the pool. We couldn't get a drink or get near the restaurant because there were so many people. And within an hour they were drunk, fighting, throwing lawn chairs in the pool, etc. There is security at the pool but they did absolutely nothing. And this happened EVERY day that we were there. Most days all the paying hotel guests would retreat to other areas of the resort to get away from this chaos and noise. I know that several guests complained to management but they didn't do anything about it. It totally ruined the vacation and I would NOT return to this hotel again.

This hotel provides great service, grounds are well kept, and the meals provided had a nice variety. This hotel was decent for the price!!!!

That was my second trip on that Hotel.I enjoyed my stay and i cant wait to go back.Great staff from the upper to the server everybody make it comfortable to stay there. I suggest that they make wi fi available to everyone on the rooms. great job Dominican Bay

This was a good vacation - the rooms need some upkeep, but overall good value for the price. Very quiet during the week - excellent to rest If you like to party, then the weekend is for you - it is really busy.

“OCTOBER 2011 TRIP”

THE GROUNDS OF THE RESORT WAS WELL KEPT, THE ROOMS ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF REMODELING, SOME OF THE STAFF MEMBERS WERE PLEASANT AND OTHERS WERE RUDE.

“Not Recommended!”

We stayed at this hotel during the 2nd week of September and was not at all impressed! The staff was not at all helpful and for the most part rude and non-sociable. One night, we had a staff member come to our room wanting our pool towels - WE NEVER EVEN SWAM! Despite the fact that we still had both or our pool cards, she showed up again (this time with a guy that I think was security) and I told them, again, I do not have any towels. They finally believed me I guess. The food was OK but not at all diverse and be prepared to eat the same cuisine (rice, fish, and pasta) every night. The staff does not wait on you at all, so be prepared to get your own refills and extra napkins because they won't be doing it for you. And the beach! The hotel is not on the beach, it about 10 minutes across the street. Once you get there, the hotel has a small section of sand fenced off (not on the water) where guards keep you from the very rude and in your face vendors. If you attempt to go the water, you will be attacked by vendors who do not give up. If you finally do make it to the water, you will not want to swim because the beach is filthy with trash and the water is too. It is very unfortunate because from a distance, the beach is gorgeous. If you are going for a beach vacation, I would recommend a hotel far from Boca Chica, trust me. I will say, the hotel grounds are well kept and pretty.
