Great packer experience

Posted 19-Oct-2013
Pros: The staff, the lounge room, the breakfast
Cons: The hot water didn't seem to be working all that well in our room.
We had the double private room downstairs. We found it comfy for the time we were there. The room had a heater which was great because other hostels in Chile don't. The kitchen had everything we needed and the hostel was close enough to a supermarket. We used it as a stop over night and enjoyed the short time we had there with the staff.

Good vibes

Posted 03-Dec-2012
Pros: Relaxed atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Nice fruit salad with breakfast. Good, fast wi-fi.
Cons: Traffic noise at beginning.
Friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The folk looking after visitors simply couldn't have been more helpful. My room was spacious and comfortable. The first few nights when my body clock was 10 hours out of whack I found the room a bit noisy at night (from traffic) and had trouble sleeping, but I made a return visit the following week when I was time-adjusted and slept fine. Only the 2 rooms facing the road would have this problem anyway. Breakfast was great. Location suited me fine - about 30 minutes walk from Santiago central, but only 5 minutes from the metro and 5 minutes on train to centro. Interesting, slightly bohemian, local architecture, eating and culture, worth the distance from town for a slightly alternative view of Santiago. I felt like I was leaving a friend's house when I departed to return home.

Comfortable and inspiring.

Pros: Art, music, staff, breakfast
Cons: Please see comments about location.
Location: Although it's easy to get around Santiago, as a single female traveler I would have liked to be more central
I loved staying at Don Santiago. It has so much character and flair, the staff are super lovely and the breakfast is one of the best in South America. I felt very looked after, comfortable and inspired there.
