What an amazing find. This beautiful boutique hotel has everything you need for a nice getaway. Beach deck bar and restaurant were awesome. The staff could not have been more friendly and serving. I will definitely stay here again...

Don't stay here. I chose this hotel because it was close to where a conference I was attending was being held. I paid for 4 nights (through Orbitz) but only stayed one. I hated it that much. The area surrounding the Tequendama was bad. I didn't feel safe walking the 8-10 minutes to the conference hotel (especially with a laptop). And I didn't feel safe leaving things in the room because of the surrounding area (although, yes, there was a safe in the room). The room had A/C and a TV, but no desk, which I needed to work on my conference paper. I checked in and was shown my room, and within 5 minutes a mosquito landed on my bed and just stayed there-- atypical behavior for a mosquito-- so I killed it and an exorbitant amount of blood stained the sheet from the dead mosquito-- not a good start. The bathroom screen had huge holes in it and the bathroom door had a huge gap between it and the floor, so it didn't really help to close the door. I'm not up for sleeping somewhere with mosquitoes in the room--especially when paying this much. In addition to a broken screen, the shades in the second bedroom were broken. I put pillows against the window for privacy, but the pillows did not fully cover the area. I just wasn't happy here. The service in the restaurant is bad, as other reviews suggest. The food was good. It's not a horrible place to stay, but it's hostel-worthy, not hotel worthy and it's not worthy of the price. Find a cheaper hostel or an actual hotel.

Wonderful hotel, very attentive service, the best sunset, BUT bad neighborhood. I was attacked by “security dogs” from nearby small businesses at night twice. Very aggressive animals. The beach door was locked at 8pm, so if you planning to walk on the beach after dark-good luck. Scary experience.

On the Caribbean, big sandy beach. Rooms cleaned daily, beds maid. Staff very friendly and helpful. Pool was small. Only had breakfast which was limited. Only used it a base. Quiet at night, which I liked.

The deck provides you with the most beautiful sunset . The place is very relaxing. The room's are small but confortable the balcony is to small you can not fit two chairs. In general is a nice affordable place.

Good option at a good price.
Had a nice stay here. The hotel is clean and the employees are attentive. If you want an ocean view you need to ask for a room in the tower. The beach is nice and much less crowded than Rodadero. That may be a good or bad think depending on your preferences. The biggest drawback is the location. If you want a daytrip to the nicer beaches or Parque Tayrona, you hace to drive or take a cab to Rodadero. Same for downtown and the better restaurants and bars. Also, the breakfast is good but not great. If you don’t care about any of that, then this place is a good option. We enjoyed our stay.

Very bad - not what it seems on the description
This hotel is not what appears to be from the description at Hotels.com. I have stayed at other hotels in Santa Marta and this one is way overpriced and not a 3 star hotel. The surroundings of the hotel do not seem safe at all. When we arrived at the hotel we had to carry our 50 on bag up the stairs because the elevator was broken and no one offered to carry them for us. Our room was dirty, some pillows didn’t have pillow cases, our bathroom had a bad smell, we had to kill around 20 mosquitoes and 1 cockroach. When we complained about this there was no one at the from desk, only a kid that was working as a doorman so the only solution the offered us after 30 min was a can of bug spray.

Good value for price, directly at the beach
The hotel has direct access to the beach, great for morning walks or swims. A little crowded in the afternoons, but still more relaxed than Rodadero Beach. The restaurant has a terrace with a great view. If you wanna have a room with a sea view, you must choose a room in the tall main building, on the upper floors. They cost a little more. From the pictures on hotels.com it is not so obvious which room has a view and which not. The more economic rooms are in a low building where you don't have a sea view. The management was very helpful and offered us an upgrade to a room with a view when we complained about the not-so-clear description of the rooms on hotels.com. The wi-fi does not work consistently in all corners of the hotel, but with a few steps you will always find a spot.

Friendly and helpful staff. Nice, clean and comfortable rooms. Good breakfast. Only downside is that there are no restaurants/places to eat around. Although the hotel has a restaurant (the same that serves breakfast) it would be nice to have other options.

Nice but basic hotel in the expensive side of nearby Santa Marta. Lovely beach, great kiosk overseeing the beach, very good service and good food. I liked the breakfast but my family found it a bit strange. The small apartment we had was very clean but a bit cramped. Nevertheless, its location with a quiet and very good beach makes it a fun stay. Juan Carlos the manager if fab, gave us a lift back to the airport when our taxi didn't show. I would stay there again.

This was a good hotel, with friendly, helpful staff. Well located near the beach, but outside the city. Quiet, spacious room with desk. Wifi was generally good and fast. Reasonably priced. There was no hot water in the room. The hotel restaurant was understaffed: Once I had to wait 40 minutes to get a simple order.

Booked last minute. It was fine. I liked the people who worked there, they were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was surprisingly good for a hotel restaurant in Santa Marta. The wifi was great and strong everywhere until it went down on the last day. There is NO business center although it says so in the hotel description. And there isn't even a computer for a guest to use. The rooms are big and all have two bed room. The shower is great, good water pressure, tepid water, which is all you need in Santa Marta, it's too hot there for hot.

The place is just what you´d expect for the price to pay; nice hotel, small but clean and confortable. The beach is right next to the restaurant, however the pool is not up to the stándar a resort should have, The food is good but very limited and there seems to be no rules regarding the very early morning noise of the staff and hotel guests.

The room was ok, it actually had two different rooms, one with a bunk bed and one with a double bed, the fan in the room with the bunk did not work, the AC in the room with the double worked well. The room door was almost impossible to open, and it seems like nly hotel staff are used to them, I had to try several times before I could open he door, and at one time I had to go to reception for help. The beach is right outside the hotel, so itis very convenient, and there is direct entry from the beach to the hotel. The pools are too small, and if you want to swim that is not possible in them. The staff at the reception was very helpful, specially Marlon, but the staff at the restaurant seemed flustered and scattered, i only spent one night at thisnhotel. And wehe. i went for lunch on the first day I asked for a bottle of water, I was served my food and the water was not there yet, I had to ask 4 times before they brought it to me. The menu lacks chicken options, but if you like seefood you'll find plenty of it.

The beach is beautiful and very quiet, the room are spacious and very clean. For the range of price this hotel should have hot water (not only warm water), they will need to take care of the noise, strating to hear hammering at 7:30 a.m, it's not what you are looking for in vacation. The target clientele is really family, not for honeymoon gateway because the bar has only juice and beer, no coktails or cup or bottle of wine to accompany our meal, really disappointing.

Hotel Tequendama in Santa Marta in late February.
