“disappointed B&B experience”
To begin: we arrived at 5pm to closed doors, lockbox access via phone call let's you in and then good directions send you to your room. Room was adequate, linens were stained but clean, only wastebaskets were emptied daily, fresh towels but no extra touches. Breakfast was tea/coffee, muffins, croissants, cereal, fresh cut fruit, bread and jams, and on 2 days freshly made waffles. The location is fantastic. Everything in walking distance and a shuttle is offered to pick you up or drop you off at locations too far to walk or when you are tired. No exercise facility on premise you need to go to the big hotel they are associated with. I thought it was overpriced for the service. Definitely not a homey feeling as I expected from a B&B and I would recommend it due to the location. The pictures on the website show much prettier rooms that have a special feeling ours faced the parking lot.
“THE place to stay in Santa Fe!”
My wife and I stayed at the Inn on the Paseo for three enjoyable nights in September 2011 as part of our 2000 mile road trip visiting the states of Nevada, Utah, New Mexico and Arizona. The Inn, with its charming character, is conveniently located a short distance from the centre of the town and was absolutely perfect for all our accommodation requirements. The building is beautifully decorated and extremely well maintained. Our bedroom was charming comfortable, clean and fresh with much attention to detail. The Inn was extremely welcoming at all times, including out of hours, with generous provisions of muffins, cookies, fresh fruit and coffee available in the dining area. Each morning we enjoyed a lovely breakfast, serviced by attentive friendly staff, in comfortable surroundings including sitting outside on the rear balcony. Unfortunately there was one time we did not enjoy; it was on our last morning, packing our bags and moving on with heavy hearts! We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the Inn on the Paseo to anyone and everyone visiting Santa Fe!
“Good B&B for the value”
Good location within a few blocks of the plaza and good value for Santa Fe. The breakfast was fresh and abundant, plus fresh cookies in the evening! I got the cheapest room and it is in the basement with a very small window, the room was quite dark but it was ok for us. There are nicer, brighter and more expensive rooms even with your own patio available if you want to pay more. There are nice decks available for lounging around. Parking is free which is a plus.
“Good Bed and Breakfast”
The Inn was in a nice location walkable to the Plaza and the main area in Santa Fe. It is run by one person who was not present when we arrived. Then there was a problem with the room and we were asked to go to their sister hotel. They did accommodate us in the end but it left us wondering how one person can handle everything. The hotel is comfortable and clean and the breakfast was good. It is worth the cost and it was a nice experience.
“Close to the plaza”
Location is great for getting around downtown Santa Fe. It is a very easy walk to the plaza and several restaurants and shops. Easy walk to city bus depot for ride to museum hill. Only complaint was arrival in the early evening after the innkeeper left for the day, door was locked and having to call sister hotel for assistance in getting into inn, finding room and getting settled.
“Very quiet and convenient”
This B&B is about as close in to the center as you can be, without being in the midst of the busy downtown area. Just a few minutes walk to get to all the shops and sites in the central area. Very quiet at night. Some rooms face onto a very narrow slit between buildings, but we were OK with that, since we didn't hang around in the room much. Breakfast is fine though muffins, fruit and hardboiled eggs, not hot/scrambled eggs/bacon. Cookies in the afternoon.
“Quaint is one way to describe it.”
The hotel breakfast service was the high point of the stay. The woman who set it up made fresh blue berry muffins. Excellent! The bed was very comfortable. That is the good part. There is no check-in on site after 700pm. Keys are left in drop box. Finding the parking was tough. The room, while reasonably clean and comfortable, had no refrigerator, coffee, or microwave. No on site exercise room. Not a lot of amenities for the asking price.
“Great location, walkable to shops and restaurants”
Really enjoyed my recent stay here. Great location, lovely room, full breakfast. My only negative comments are about the service at the front desk. Through a miscommunication with my husband when we divvied up vacation planning, we booked a room at Inn on the Paseo over Expedia and also through the Inn's website. When we realized the mistake (a month before arriving), I called the Inn to get a refund on one of the rooms, yet a week before arrival, this still hadn't been refunded. I emailed with details and a second request for a refund. By the time we arrived at the Inn, the refund *still* hadn't taken place. It was easy enough to do in person but in advance, it was simply not to be! Only other comment would be about the service in terms of knowledge of the surrounding neighborhoods. On two separate occasions, the front desk staff was unable to assist me with simple requests about local options. Not to demand full "concierge" service, but being a local employee at a locally-owned hotel would suggest that you'd know the local vibe. Tip: Go to the corner of Washington and Marcy, two blocks from the hotel, and get yourself a "Pasotiempo" for a buck. It's published once a week and, contrary to the Inn's staff member's concerns, there were still plenty left in the bin when I went to buy one on a Tuesday. Overall, a lovely place, just don't count on amazing, over-the-top service.
“I tried to support this hotel”
The room was really small, the toilet didn't work (I had to have my hands in the tank several times), but most of all the front desk was really unhelpful. I showed up in the afternoon to a sign on the door saying the front desk momentarily. I waited 20 minutes and called, only to find they were closed for the night. When I checked out at 10am, they didn't have any system for watching my bags since I had a night-time flight. I will say that I only support local, indie businesses whenever possible, so I feel okay about giving them my money, but I wish I had found a different one...
“Underwhelmed in Santa Fe”
Inn on the Paseo was a "fair" experience. This was my first trip to NM, and I had planned a 3 night stay in Santa Fe and two nights in ABQ. The Inn was clean, and the staff were helpful and friendly, but my experience in the B&B in ABQ eclipsed this one, so it is hard not to be biased. Both accommodations were similarly priced. The location to the Plaza is definitely within walking distance, just bring comfy shoes! Parking is in back off a alley that comes out to a blind curve making left hand turns nearly impossible. The breakfast is just "okay", not the 5 star feast I had in ABQ. It consists of in season fresh fruits, cold cereals, yogurt, boiled eggs, cottage cheese, toast, bagels, croissants, juices, tea and coffee. The only hot food offered was "waffles" and I'm not a waffle person. My room was around the corner from the dining area and across from a living area. The Inn decor is nice and clean, and I felt safe there. The only complaint of my room was the queen size bed/mattress was so tall, it really needed a step stool to climb into and there wasn't one present :-(. Additionally, there is no easy way to get your luggage up to the Inn without having to drag it up a flight of stairs unless you walk around the block from the parking lot out back!
